Wolverine X1 & X2 Street Jackets Done! UPDATED 8/7

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Kittlemeier @ Mar 28 2007, 11:38 AM) [snapback]1450105[/snapback]</div>
When they add the lines of stitching to the X2, will they make the raised line that's in the original jacket pics? Also the accent yellow/brown from the X2 should be a mustard color but it looks like British tan in the pics. What color would you call it in person?

They both look great so far.
[/b]

Thanks buddy. Glad you like them so far. :thumbsup
The X2 'mustard' color is really the same color as the X1 leather stripes. The difference you may be seeing is only due to the fact that for the X2 they're sude. When tinting suede, it's not a flat surface like a leather skin so because of the sude nature, the colors are never going to be exact...never. In the same suede skin, you'll get subtle clouding of the same color once tinted. It's normal for suede. The bottom line is it is the same base color as the X1 which is what it needs to be. The X2 jacket doesnt have a new color there, just a different material.
As for the slight raised rib around the mustard suede where I forgot the double stitching, yes I will add it. It's no big deal. :)

Those're looking amazing David :thumbsup

As long as money allows for it at the time. I'll be in for an X1 otherwise I'll hang back for an X3.
I'll be watching the JY closely :D

What is the ballpark cost for these?
[/b]

Hey Jason,

I'm still crunching numbers but now that I've got working prototypes it's that much easier for me to get this all figured out.
So far...approx 400 each. Could be a dollar more or a dollar less....I just need a few more days for this then the J/Y thread will be bumped up...a certain amount of time for the orders to come in then about 8 weeks later I deliver. :)

Plenty of time for SDCC and DC :) .

Dana at Bates had described it as mustard when I spoke to her a few years ago. Also when weathered in the stills that part of the jacket takes a bit of a green tint. The suede just looks too gold/orange to my eye. Either way the jacket looks great.

Amazing work David... really really great jackets there...

I will try to do my best to get the money for 1... (will be hard, but I will try)...

Now, one question, just out of curiosity (and please, excuse me for "hyjack" this thread with this question... if you want it, I can delete the question...)

BUT...

Have you thought about making the X3 Cyclops Street jacket ??? I guess you know which one I mean, but I attach you a pic... If you ever decide to make it... I will buy it for sure ... ;)

P.S... once again, amazing jackets, and let's see if I can afford it ...

wow, I thought about ordering a Bates and they sent me an email with attachments. and I have to say this jacket looks way way better than the pictures they sent me. BTW if anybody really wants to see those pics PM me, I haven't seen them on here yet. excellent job.

Great work, David. My question is, are these being made to the measurements of the wearer or are these going to be done in an L, XL, XXL style?

Thanks, bud.

Yes, I dont expect to do another after words. It's a lot of work to do these and I dont want to be doing them again. Sorry man..with some luck you'll be able to swing it/them. :)

Beeb89,

Like all my garments these will be offered in standard American sizes meaning 38,40,42,44,46,48,50. I'll provide a size chart outlining the measurements of each size so everyone can get the size they need.

jurassic_nick,

Thanks for the kind words buddy.

h8ter18,

Yes, once again as soon as I have a free minute I'll take back pics too.

Benkenove,

Thanks buddy but sorry, no plans to do that jacket. I do think it's already available on ebay though.

Kittlemeier,

Well, the suede is the same mustard color as the leather mustard stripes on the X1 but just that in suede they may look a little darker...or maybe your monitor is on a different setting. I dont know, but we matched everything up based on the research we did. Getting these things 100% exact is difficult each and every time even for the the original sources so I'd say that for what we've done here...we're pretty happy with the color results. :thumbsup

David

David,

Will you be offering the x2 jacket in Black ? Awesome job on the jackets .... :confused :confused it looks to me that the Black/ Dark Brown waist stripes have to be trimed down a bit. And for the Red strips thay seam to short thay need to extend more from my Bates pix, are the ribs around the mustard going to be raised on the waist stripes too ? it looks that way from my Bates pix :D I hope my bates pix I sent you helped :love

Regards,

aljf :eek

did the jackets end up longer than the first pics? maybe its just how you stand but they look longer than they did beofre.

also how are you going to handle payments all up front or half now and half when the jackets are completed? and what can we expect as far as shipping prices.

let me know.

thanks
mike

Hey David, first great work so far...

As far as the X1 goes the only major problem I see is the waist stripe. You are pretty close but leave a bit much room between the bottom of the strip and the bottom of the jacket... The bottom edge of the waist strip should have an angle to it as it comes around to the front it angles closer to the base of the jacket, yours tends to come around the front parallel to the base of the jacket. I'll post a pic to show you the comparison.

Notice how the entire waist stripe slants towards the bottom of the front zipper?
I think once you have that and the more fitted fit, your jacket is spot on...

I'm posting pics of an X2 jacket from Bates in an inquiry email last May, by popular request [I never bought the jacket]. I should also highlight how spot on DAVIDYR1's jacket is.
[attachmentid=13349] [attachmentid=13350] [attachmentid=13351] [attachmentid=13352] [attachmentid=13353] [attachmentid=13354] [attachmentid=13355]

David, If I may nitpick something about your X2, I would say that the arm stripes should be just a tad closer together than the X1. More like 1/2" spacing rather than 3/4" spacing. Just an observation that you might consider.
- John

I have used the pic that THE MAN posted to "mark" some things that I see that could be improved (or I may be wrong...could be possible as well), but I hope this can help a little to make it really really perfect...

Original pic:
comparedavid.jpg

Here... what I see that could be improved:
[attachmentid=13363]

Personally, the most importart thing to be improved is the fitted fit... in the main central jacket and the sleves... I think that is the best of this kind of motorcycle jackets... the fitted fit... I really really hope you can make this with no much problem... (I'd love to get it fitted fit :D)

Well, I really hope this can help you in some way...

Let us know what you think David :D

Ben.

David, are you sure the suede stripes on the X2 should be the same color as the X1? Looking at the pics above, and other screenshots, I am inclined to agree with Kittlemeier that they should be less gold and more yellow.
- John

i would also agree about the X2 colors, although they do not appear to be as yellow as some of those pics make them, i think its the flash.

as far as the X1 i did dome photo-chopping and made some corrections to the waist stripe, and the length of the jacket, in the above movie pics it looks like the sleeve extends at least 4-6 inches below the bottom of the jacket, maybe the jacket is also too long.

i made the jacket hit higher at the waist and also changed the angle and thickness of the waist stripe only ont the left side (of the pic)

let me know what you think

KS - I think David's choice of color for the stripes on the X2 is just fine, considering dirtying up the slightly darker gold will get you to the screen look much easier than the bright yellow. I think just the brown base leather of the X2 version should be a bit darker.

So for the X2 changes my suggestions would be to have...
- arm stripes closer together (1/2 inch instead of present 3/4 inch apart)
- brown suade surrounding waiste accent should be about half the width
- the base brown of the jacket should be a darker brown
- and the double stich accent to give the piping underneath look as David already mentioned would be added.

For the X1 my suggestions would be the same as earlier...
- change angle of waist stripe as shown above
- adjust fit of the jacket

And there you have it, David would be spitting out the best damn Wolve jackets repros at a reasonable price to date.

Can't wait to see what he puts out for the X3 next. :)
