From the picture you can see I have a sweet wolverine suit made by UD replicas. But my problem is my mask the mask I'm wearing was a just a cheep mask I brought cus I liked it not for costume use.

I am wanting to have a similar mask that more matches my suit in looks and colour. Any advice much appreciated..

Thanx. :thumbsup

Contact Shawn Reeves ..have him do the whole cowl in black ( i did this years ago with the vinyl mask and some plasti dip..it looks great) then add white mesh behind the eyes for a full white out look. Trust me ..the all black cowl makes for the perfect movie/comic hybrid

I did contact him and got a price. Need to save a little first. Love the idea of whiting out the eyes don't suppose you have any pictures or build threads for me on HHS subject do you.

you could just paint up the one you are wearing and it will have a similar effect really

God ..i wish i had a pic...it was soooo long ago. One of the old Cosplay suits in fake leather that mimicked the movie suits ( they were actually not too bad). I would save for the Reeves cowl ..I've seen it and it is amazing. The reason that i think that it will work well with the suit is that the "ears" flare wider ..it will look proportionate to the X chest on the UD suit. A black military balaklava under the cowl will complete the look. it will match the fabric parts of the suit

Ptgreek loving the advice and your absolutely right in every sense, saving will be done..

Just as a little project for me know how would I paint the one I have now to make it look better. Question aimed at SDUK, i.e what type of paints should I use would be a big help, also any ideas on hoe I can fasten the bxk up its just open at the moment I was thing of sewing in some Velcro or adding a zip.

The Reevz advice is sound, I own his first cowl (X-Force) and am waiting on delivery of his new one (Black/Tan).
Some folks have gotten away with using Krylon Fusion on rubber/latex, but personally have never tried it, so you may consider it for your existing mask. You could also go with a tinted urethane to coat the entire mask and get the exact color you want. The mix can be thinned enough to be applied with an airbrush.
For the eyes you may look over the Spiderman threads, I believe the process they use is a mirrored lens with the fabric/screen mesh to get the comic book look.

Again great advice so glad I joined the forum. Will be looking for Spider-Man tutorials ASAP. The x-force costume is awesome I would love to have one of these as well will be doing major saving.

Once again thanx all.

some people use acrylic paint mixed with latex to paint latex.... (I am assuming the mask is latex?) other than that I'm not too sure...
I personally am not a fan of the wide eared Wolverine cowl, Reevz does amazing work and his cowl is fantastic but the design itself just isn't my thing

honestly grab a can of black plati-dip spray ..nice even coats ..not too thick. it will adhere and reduce the glossiness of that vinyl. Fusion paints have a tendency to have a bit of gloss in them as well ..i think you want to get closer to the surface of the leather. the rubber of the plati matches well. Be very careful with spraying any two part urethane. when it cures, it will be a nightmare to clean..considering the mix, im not even sure how much youd be able to thin it to pass through a standard airbrush.

When i did the eyes on that old mask, i found a white mesh that was fairly stiff ( almost as if starched) i wish i could have remembered where..although I was living in San Francisco at the time .. it had to have been a generic craft store. not as many specialized stores as we have in LA. Best bet would look in a Joannes or Michaels

Again great advice although I live in the UK so ill have to have a look around a few stores local to me.

And yes the mask is vinyl.

Cheers for that and I've just checked the web site and the mask is made of latex.

Any ideas about my zip idea to close the back up.

do you need to open it to get the mask on? if not id permanently close it. if you have access to latex, paint a patch on a mirror or piece of glass ..heat cure it with a hair dryer or heatgun ..build up your layers maybe 5 or so..then baby powder it and peel it off the mirror. use an industrial rubber cement ( here we use Barge..but any shoe oriented cement will work ..something that repairs rubber soles) glue from the inside of the mask. i could teach you to seam the line ..but thats a whole other story :)

if you need access to the slit ..then id go with a zipper.in the end it will be easier for you to close yourself without the hassle of lining up the velcro perfectly

Interesting point ill check if I need it opening to get my head in if not ill seal it up I got loads of liquid latex if I do then ill go get a zip whilst I'm there I'll check out some white mesh.

Thanx
