Wolverine all day baby! Jackets, belts, claws, oh my.

About damn time. So many false starts, it's made me care less about the production and focus more on the other films. I like the teaser, regardless of accuracy.

Jorge should have the next proofs ready within a week or so from Heron.

The shoulders are no where as wide as they need to be. Where the current shoulders end is where the 1st section should end. This would help lower the sleeves to a more proper spot as they are currently way too short.

They show this in the zipped up pic as they should not pul up to the wrist when the jacket is closed.

The stripes (all of them) need more material folded over underneath. The film jacket had what appears to be at least 1/4" material folded in on the waist stripes. Maybe more.

I can't see it but is there a seam, (the piece of leather going cross wise across the top of the chest zippers?)

Zipper pull is also on the wrong side.

It's looking good but this could be spectacular since it's still in the proto phase.

I'm curious as to what the other comments were/are as I don't see any posted. Please post your comments so we can all see what others have already noticed.

Here is a pic for what I see proportionally.

The shoulders really need to go much wider. This will help a few issues that stem form just this one problem.

The back panel needs a more straight seam vertically. It does curve, just not to the extent that it does here. The shoulder seam curve needs to be reworked as it curves around and under too much.

Sleeves need more length as they are wrinkled on the film jacket and are still longer than this.

I used to work with patterns a lot. And on dimensional characters so I can see mentally how it will change. Funny thing about patterns is that one change can affect something with unintended consequences. Hit the major things 1st before adjusting secondary issues (shoulders 1st, sleeve length later).

Looking good.

I agree on the biwings. There needs to be a little more material in there. I've noticed on a lot of the Heron X2s that when somebody stretches out their arms, the underside of the material is exposed which I don't think should be the case. That's the one thing I've noticed with Heron X jackets lacking that the OLF, Wested, and Vanson X jackets have. If anybody knows what I'm talking about here feel free to respond.

I see what you mean and will take this into account when I contact Jorge. You also have to keep in mind that these materials don't react the same as the leather that will be used. The design and reason of the X1 being so low and loose was to accommodate for the jean jacket underneath. So I will pass this info along to him hopefully before the second prototype has been completed.

Hello everyone! I've spent the last week or so lurking around here and filmjackets.com to try and find the best possible Wolverine jacket for the best possible price. I'm looking at X1 or XO, depending on what looks best on a per jacket basis. I like both designs.

I'm a 5'2" female, so I'm taking a gamble buying a man's jacket in the first place, but I should fit into the XS of most brands. I would go with tailoring, but after some consideration and lots of skimming through threads like this I'm thinking about going with a Heron.

I don't want to spend much more than $200 (I'm a college student with a part time job and just don't have the funds for something as amazing as Logan's Closet), and want the jacket in time for SDCC in July. :)

I've sent emails to the ebay sellers I've looked at regarding whether or not their product is actually Heron (including the linked below) and have also gotten in contact with the main Heron website asking if they still make the Wolverine jackets (superDrool mentioned that if you specially ask them they still use the patterns and can make you one- your X2 coat looks great, btw :) ), but haven't heard back from anyone yet.

My question for all of you lovely people is if you think Heron is the right place for me to go, or if you have any other suggestions- I've seen what people have been talking about on here but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask personally [I've been looking through as much as I can but I don't have time to read absolutely everything].

Also, I've been looking at this on ebay- it looks Heron and pretty legit, but if any of you have more info on it I'd be much obliged.

Update (5/24): I got a response back from the seller below saying that his jackets were Heron but the pictures are different from the ones with the labels? This makes me a little skeptical.... thoughts?
[obviously it's X1 instead of XO, but just as far as legitimacy?]

Sorry for all this- it's just that all of you know your stuff so well and I don't want to spend my hard earned money on something that's not going to look good or meet my expectations.

You guys are awesome!
Thank you for your help!

SNICKT

ps- speaking of, what claws did you guys go for? I'm looking at these because they look like the only versions I've seen so far that can adjust to my hands? I have very, very small hands. :/

Oversized is one thing. But it's off proportionately. Wasn't the jacket made for someone else? I forgot who but the jean jacket was to fill him out. Which just means it's like wearing a jacket one size too big.

That's why on the X1 I would probably recommend to anyone getting one size bigger. That's my plan. Especially if I go with Dan on his lighter weight model.

Hugh was added last minute, per se ( from Dugray Scott). But it's never been confirmed anywhere that any of the costuming was measured to someone else. I did agree that the shoulders and sleeve seams should be slung lower. If you notice that the cuffs and hem line hit exactly where they should with a jean jacket underneath.

Miss Wolvie, I will look into those ebay vendors, as Heron does conduct alot of business via distributors/vendors.

superDrool- thanks so much!

I'm also in contact with Heron directly, and if I can get it fast enough I'm going to try and just buy from them...

Another quick question just in case any of you have opinions on this- Heron said they can make the jacket cut for a woman- do you think this would be a good idea? I mean, obviously I am a woman, but as far as the style goes do you think it would translate alright into a more female shape? I'll probably go with this, but I'm not 100% sure...

I have seen these claws in person.. They are hand made and pretty crappy if you ask me.

:(

Do you have any suggestions of where I can find better ones? So far these are the best I've found...

The biggest problem is just that my hands are so small, so most of the claws out there would look really ridiculous on me.

edit:
Sorry for the double post :( ! I didn't see your reply until just now and didn't think to just edit my last one until it was too late.

Does anyone happen to know approximately how long it would take for Heron to make a custom jacket from a pattern they already have?

Is there any chance it would be under one month, or is this more of a 3-4 month process...?

if you order an Ebay jacket you will get it in plenty of time. Look at there sizing chart and pick the best size that fits you. It took me a month for my heron X-2. Also depends on if Heron is waiting for Hide to make jackets.

Ok cool. Yeah I'm considering just getting the XS on ebay, but Heron emailed me and said they could tailor one for me for just a little bit more, or even make it in a woman's cut (which I'm not really sure about though).

I need it by July though so it makes me nervous about going directly through Heron as far as getting it in time, although obviously I'd prefer one from them.

I emailed and asked how long it would take and hopefully they'll get back to me soon.

How do you like your X2 from them? :)

I'm really interested in the Heron jacket. Espceially if I can get it in motorcycle weight leather. Getting back on the old iron horse this summer....

My X-2 is a very solid jacket.. Would be a $500 jacket if it were made in the states. IM waiting for the thinner leather X-1 so i can have both jackets
