Wolverine all day baby! Jackets, belts, claws, oh my.

I agree I would love to see Wolverine in the Avengers and agree that he would fit good into the films. I know that is all just hopeful thinking, but at best I just see Hugh getting to do a Wolverine cameo in one of the Marvel Movies. I just don't see Fox letting Hugh play Wolverine in film produced by another studio. I hope I eat those words though!!! haha

It's simple, they can share the profits but they say 'laws' get in the way to hide the obvious greed they all feel. If Jackman was in Avengers 3, that film would EASILY make over 2 billion dollars, add Spiderman and you'd probably be at another 500 mill in profits. I'd like to see what Fox can do with an X-men/Wolverine reboot done the right way with the correct costumesbut after that, I'd like the rights to revert back so I can actually see Wolverine in an Avengers movie in my lifetime. I have a feeling that's gonna be another 20-30 years, though...

On the topic of the Smithsonian, I live in the area and could easily get photos the next time I go but there are 2 potential problems:

1. If the suit is behind glass like they usually are, the back of it will be facing a wall and won't be able to get photos of that part which I am dying to see as are the rest of you I'm sure.

2. I won't be able to upload the photos of it because I will be on the run with the suit after breaking into the exhibit and stealing it for myself....

Any areas of the suit you really want photos of besides the back that I can get for study?

As far as crossovers go, even if you set aside all the issues with the rights and money and all that crap, the biggest thing to take into account is the tone of the universes that each studio has created.

For example The Avengers had a really cartoonish tone to it, the cinematography, the bright colors, even the way it was shot, it felt like a kids movie. Whereas a lot of the comicbook movies ARE kid friendly, The Avengers was the one that really felt, and looked, like a kids movie (Which is something I HATED about that movie). Even Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which is set in the same universe, felt like something entirely different, the way it's shot, the cinematography, the script, it felt like an adult movie. It's hard to say take a character like Wolverine, who's been setup in a universe that feels more dark and adult oriented, and throw him into a movie like The Avengers which is very light and kid friendly.

I'd like to ask people here to not post all the details of the movie out unless it's forewarned with a "SPOILERS" post? (And even then, I still get tempted to see the spoilers...LOL)... If you don't mind...It's released in Japan on the 30th...So only a short while to wait..But I'd appreciate the short delay in letting all the secrets out....

As for the reviews...I've read several now....But haven't come across those that state the whole timeline from the previous films is thrown out at the start of the film....Wolverine messing about in the past seems to affect it? But that's entirely to be expected, and makes sense....So I can't really see what the objections being thrown out earlier were....

Indeed, all 6 of the reviews I'd read state that the film is high on the list for the best X-Men film out thus far....Which seems to rather high credit for Singer all in all....

I can't bloody wait for this movie....It'll rock...

I think as far as Avengers and X-Men/Spiderman crossovers go? We probably won't see them for a very long time...Neither Fox or Sony are stupid enough to hand the rights back without a LOT of money being changed over, and Marvel don't really "need" the extra cash/hassle of rebooting the two franchises...So we probably won't see that in our lifetimes....Depending on how long the rights were transferred for in the original contracts.....
I think the one thing that Marvel have really done well, is to embrace the "comic" origins while ALSO allowing the viewers to see these characters in a "realistic" world as well.....Avengers was insane, but I wouldn't call it a "kids movie"..I'd say it's a "comic book movie"...Almost exactly what we get (and loved) in the comics, and it works BECAUSE of that..Not in spite of it..It's quite impressive to finally see a film company realise that this CAN be done, and ACCEPTED by an audience huge enough to make it profit, and I'm happy with that....X-Men came out at a time when there was less "confidence" in showing the "Comic book" side of these characters, and Singer opted for a more dirty, "real" worldview....It certainly worked, but times have advanced, as have the audiences, and Avengers proves that beyond all doubt.....The world these characters inhabit IS a "comic book world", but it's ALSO "our world", and the mix is balanced very well in Avengers.......X-Men as well has taken small steps towards that path, starting with First Class, and Spiderman as well....Over the top? Certainly. Unbelievable? No....Not so much....."Childish"? Nah....Not really....The balance is pretty well done in my opinion....

Of course, there will be people who want more "grit" in the movies...But equally, the comics have the same balance as the current Marvel movies, and I don't think that it's a bad thing to have that in the movies as well.....We don't really need to think Captain America exists, or that his shield will ALWAYS come back to his arm to watch a great movie.....We've advanced to the point where showing that is appreciated widely from kids all the way up to long time fans.......Marvel has done an exceptional job at this world creation.....I wouldn't say it's being wasted as a "kiddie movie".......

There are some characters that do, of course, come over as darker, and more gritty, and that's perfect too.....But the Avengers wasn't the Punisher, and I don't think it would have been any better had they chosen to NOT go "comic OTT"....It works....And audiences worldwide loved that balance...

I reckon...

comonbub, we needa look closer at that leg/boot armor if ya can :) And to me, this on-display suit looks to be a far angle suit, because the carbon chest plates look to lack the textured detail, and under armor (bright yellow section) looks solid instead of mesh like, which is different than the one in all the promo shots we've seen. Can u get some details on the side straps/buckles? The bottom strap seems to have to be pulled backward instead of forward like the others (looks like it to me anyway) I can sketch out the major parts of the front armor except for the thin upper pieces that overlap/connect the big pieces. Slowly refining sketches to see if i can scan a pic or trace in photoshop to make a pattern for foam. Yeah the shoulder armor and leg parts look the most difficult though and need some better shots of those :thumbsup

Holy...
I just returned from a preview here in Germany. Be ready for a ride. The film worked much better than I anticipated it to work.
I will keep this as spoilerfree as possible:
The Good:
- Sentinels! I have never been a fan of them, but they nailed them. I haven't seen such an impressive adversary since T2 in 1991 when the world met T1000. The future Sentinels are unstoppable. They are like a force of nature.
- The 4 protagonists. Everyone who fears this will be another Wolverine and the X-Men movie... relax. Yes... Logan has an important part, but not as important as you think. The core story really is about Charles - Erik - and Raven. The center focus of the film is the latest of the three. Wolverine acts as a commentator of some sort.
- Quicksilver: His scenes got the best reaction from the audience. People went crazy for him. I really hope Singer will extended his part in the 2016 sequel. AVENGERS 2 will have a tough time to sell another version to this one!
- The cinematography: Beyond awesome. If you thought AVENGERS was big, go watch X-DOFP. It made everything right, AVENGERS did wrong. Instead of having people in one and the same place talking about things (Helicarier), the X-Men go out (Vietnam, Paris, New York, Washington, China, Russia) and DO things while they talk about it.
The Meh:
- The score. Pretty much a rehash of Ottman's X2 score, which in my opinion is the most generic one of the series. The best scores were LAST STAND, ORIGINS WOLVERINE, FIRST CLASS and THE WOLVERINE. There is not a single theme I have in mind from DOFP now, whereas I have the main titles from all the other films in my head.
- 132 minutes? Come on... this could have gone for another 2 hours. If you thought LAST STAND was fast paced... go watch DOFP.
The Bad:
- Nothing... really. Some cheesy dialogue at the beginning maybe to set up the film itself. But else... this is a great film, not quite the best in the series (that's THE WOLVERINE imho), but pretty much close upstairs the ladder.
Sit through the credits... and I mean... the complete credits! Really... it's worth it... You thought Thanos was cool? Well... this one just beats him.

You know, this is a total mind**** but would be kind of neat and it'd kinda reset X-Men origins Wolverine...If that rumor was true about Wolverine's mind being stukc in his past self, wouldn't it be screwed up if the Stryker of DOFP somehow forced him go through the Weapon X program all over again and the pain wiped his memory clean (like the comics). Getting amnesia twice lol

Also, here's the full soundtrack...

I rather liked the more upbeat tone that Henry Jackman had lent to the First Class movie, but the return to the classic soundtrack isn't so bad....A little sombre, but that'll fit I reckon!

Only a week to go for me here!

Oh, there's remnants of the Magneto theme in there. It's also got the X2 theme in the end credits, the perfect mix of both movies. In speaking of which, I did a little Old Man tonight with the hair in about 10 minutes time. Gray streaks in the sides and a little in the chin. It's gonna be a lot better tomorrow night considering I'll have more time before the premiere. Going with full metal claws, boots, bootcut jeans and black shirt.

SPOILERS!!!! Don't read further if you want to be surprised!!!!

--------------------

BIG SPOILERS

You will get what you demand. Even more though. X-MEN ORIGINS WOLVERINE, X-MEN, X2, X-MEN LAST STAND and THE WOLVERINE never happened in the new "future" timeline. And only Logan remembers the events from those films. Everyone is back in place and well.

END OF SPOILERS

-----

YOU CAN CONTINUE TO READ BEYOND THIS POINT.

See... kind of made me sad, on the other hand... let's see where they go from here.

Yeah...Thanks mate....It's highly appreciated that ya covered that......(Just saying it won't stop me reading it...But if I need to click to see it? I won't click....LOL)

Just got back, I really liked it, but no spoilers. From a collecting stand point there are so many great shots of the belt, buckle, jacket, suit, shirts, boots and bone claws, so we will have a lot to work with! While not screen accurate at all (it's the best I could do), but here was what I went with minus the sunglasses, because it was a night time showing. haha
My DOFP.png Wolverine 70's close enoughs 2.pngMy DOFP 2.png
I found this interview (http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2014/05/22/hugh-jackman-dressed-as-wolverine-for-halloween-and-nobody-noticed/) and saw there is a scene of behind the scenes footage of Wolverine waking up with a tank top, jeans, boots, and what appears to be the 70's belt and that shot was not used in the finial film.

Gear looks great to me mate! I like the shirt too! And yeah, nice one on the belt! It's a shame the Magnoli ones aren't yet done, but that's pretty close!
