Wolverine all day baby! Jackets, belts, claws, oh my.

Dan isn't, "THEMAN" at RPF anymore bub! :lol:lol:lol

It'd be nice if Dan could go over it here on RPF.... What's that all about bub? SNIKT

Logan's Closet Origins XO...
wolverineoriginsfront.jpgwolverineoriginscollarb.jpgwolverineoriginsbackang.jpgwolverineoriginswalk.jpg

Of course a few of us have gone over this at filmjackets.com as well as with Dan personally while being developed.

I will say that I do like how the arm stripes don't go all the way around the arm. Feel a bit more subdued that way.

Other than that I prefer the more minimal elements of the X1.

Wolvie from that movie also has the best character bits and dialogue. Loner tough guy with a heart of gold. Good stuff.

Wolf:
Vanson did NOT have access to any originals to ANY screen jackets. The only person I know that did have access to any of the Wolverine jackets is Rick, one of two founders of the FJ.com site. Rick had the honor to have this jacket sent to him for photo evidence from the owner and that was of the X1 stunt jacket for the ratchet rig for the initial Sabretooth encounter. Vanson was chosen to create the prototype of the X1 based on their longstanding Model B, which added striped, and again Rick was able to go to Vansons and wear that. It is also a known fact that Bates motorcycle company (of which I've had the pleasure to talking to) created the jacket for Hugh for X2. They still actually make them for a mere $2,000. The X3 was created near Vancouver by Milos at his company "The Original Leather Factory". Again, those are still sold and hand made by Milos, himself. The XO, is presumed to have been made nearby filming, but no one has confirmed THIS jacket manufacturer as of yet.

Nick: I do agree with your sediments of Logan's character and X1 jacket.

Thanks superdrool, I knew some of that stuff just from reading stuff in online forms, but it is great to have all that info in one post to see! I have always found it strange that we know the least about the X-0 when it is the "newer" than the other jackets.

Guys, I apologize again about the dip thing I thought it was clear what I meant in my original post. I just think that the picture on Logan's Closet has given the illusion that the dip is larger than it actually was on the screen used jacket. For the longest time I thought the dip was suppose to touch the top of the pants pockets when worn just based on that photo because Vanson is the closet to the original.

Are you all saying there's not a dip and that the effect of this dip is created only by the way it lays on Hugh? Because that is false, I've watched enough of that movie obsessing over that jacket to know that Dan got it right. If not, then don't reply. I still say Dan has got the best reproductions of X jackets on the market based on price and construction from owning 3 of them

.

No, there is and always was a dip in the back. I think that Dan's dip is over exaggerated in the jacket he has pictured on his web page.
Not sure if this will help anyone regarding the dip on the Vanson X0 but here's a few pix of mine, one of the best jackets I ever owned, absolutely bombproof.

but after seeing these pics, it's clear Dan needs to post updated pic, this jacket looks way better then one on his site. The dip is much less on this jacket and accurate to the movie. Seeing these pic's from InLikeFlynn make me want one of these jackets. But. I can't afford the price. ontop of that I would want mine distressed and that's even more $$$ :(

Its true I have the vanson xo infact I've got the one inlikeflynn did an awesome job distressing :) and I have to say that the dip is subtle on it and looks correct to the film it's such an awesome jacket

Just trying to figure out which vanson wolverine jacket to get next x2 or x3

I agree with Soldier completely. I think that both Dan's and Wade's X-O looks different on their sites, the actual product looks better than what is pictured.
What color is the stitching on the elbows and shoulder's suppose to be? Is it suppose to be close to the main color or a contrast to it (like the jacket pictured below)? For example, the stitching on mine is about the same color as the jacket itself.

(The pictured jacket is not mine, and the circled areas are what I am talking about)

That thread is not contrastive. It's dark brown, same as the jacket. The flash from the camera creates that intense separation from glossy topcoat od the leather from the flat features of the nylon thread. The screen jacket is a medium brown as the thread is and there is very little shine/glare from natural lighting, creating flow from leather to thread.

You can see this on Inlikeflynn's photo at the bottom. The elbow stitching is the same as the rest. But you have to keep in mind that the Vanson you receive will not look like this, unless you ask Dan for additional distressing.

Thanks superdrool, I figured it was either the lighting or as it distresses it becomes closer to the brown. Lighting is everything and that makes it hard to judge colors from photos or screen shots sometimes.

I have dealt with Wade at WolverineJacket.com, and have nothing but great things to say about his response time and customer service in general. In the end I didn't pull the trigger because of the lack of the dip. I agree in some of the pictures, the screen worn jacket dip does not look that pronounced, but it is definitely there, and in some other pictures it does look very apparent..

And here is a Vanson where the dip doesn't look as pronounced...

I guess it all depends on the angles and how the jacket is laying and other things...

That's one of Dan's earlier jackets. The middle seam going down the back isn't the same as Flynn's.

Comonbub:
I remember there being a tweak to that middle seam, however I don't remember what that was exactly. Was it double stitched?

Yeah, in the movie it had the double stitch like on Flynn's but on mine, you I got that watchamacallit down the middle.

I'm going to be really disappointed if we don't get a DOFP spot in the Super Bowl as much money as Fox put into it...

actually it doesn't look like flynn's old one has the double stitch

the new seam on dans XO is like a but join with stitching either side of the seam

Glad you are still liking the jacket, I should have made it clear that you are the owner now.;)

I had asked Dan about that too and this is what he had to say:

Art from RPF banned me and stated a license owner requested I be removed from the forum around the time I announced and showed prototype work on the BANE jacket from Logan's Closet. Even though I have permission from the original maker of that Belstaff jacket for the film to create my own version, apparently said license owner has enough clout on the RPF to have this kind of thing done.

PS- he said I could post that here in case anyone else was wondering the same thing. He is still very much a supporter of us Wolverine fans and continues to take care of business the same as always.

thought I'd share this here. Managed to get a red monkey watch for about 50 bucks. Not sure how screen accurate it is to the XO watch. this is the x strap model with the gray face.

I'm really disappointed with Fox in promoting this new movie. They showed teasers for that 24 movie but not the one that cost 200 mill to make? How do they expect people to know about it if there's no promotion? And where's this new godddamn trailer at...

Great Price! I own a few Red Monkey watches, but the screen used watch has a distressed chocolate band with grey face apparently. The face on yours is black and the strap looks brown to me bub... SNIKT
