Wolverine all day baby! Jackets, belts, claws, oh my.

Also, having checked on it, apparently the comment above that I deleted was about right...

The scene isn't set in our time, or the future, so the clothes are just about right for the date, 1973...Hipster styling, wide collars, browns a lot more common and the rest of it....There are still a lot of "issues" with it, but perhaps those are cleaned up by Wolverine's headwipe sometime shortly after 1973? Who knows...Either way, no bad thing at all....

Rather cooler for knowing that actually..

Have we worked out when the "headwipe" actually was? I mean, the whole "Wolverine: Origins" movie was very vague on when all that finally happened. We know stryker picked him up during Vietnam... but som scenes after that unless they were many years after the Guns didn't match certain conjectured dates.

I find it interesting that aside from the Jacket..... Logan seems to be rocking hair, etc a huge throwback to X2 Logan. I reckon Singer likes a certain look that Origins and "The Wolverine" didn't adhere too. I liked his shirts more from Origins than any in X2 and most in X1. Hell, his Logger plaid I loved.
Honestly, I prefer the more "natural look". Where his hair isn't as pronounced ala origins or The Wolverine.
I like the Jacket as it does fit in well with 1973 etc... if it's a sequel to First Class though... Beast should be fully transformed. This movie should be interesting to say the least.

The "Headwipe" was as a result of being shot in the brain with an Adamantium bullet wasn't it? The idea being that because it was Adamantium it managed to damage his memory contained in the brain but that the damage repaired physically, so his brain was ok, but the memories were gone or harder to get at? I thought....And if that's the case, then I'd say late 70's, early 80's? After the Vietnam War, and far enough from it to have allowed him to "reset" his life and build a new one, but not so far that everyone had aged considerably...I'd aim at mid 80's..

I think the hair is less of an issue, as are the clothes to some degree, since we could all see that he'd have reason to change it over time to a small degree, and the same with the shirts and jeans and belt buckles (Not a huge fan of the leather looking one in DoFP really..But meh)...

And as for Beast, since we don't know the story, it's no good to say he "should be" something or other...The film will reveal why he's not I'd place bets on..But we won't know that till we've seen it...So...Not really a problem as it stands for me..

True. But if the memory wipe was a during the "Three Mile Island" incident which they intimated it to be then that was 1979.
Everyone is stating this scene to be from 1973. So that would be before the mind wipe and adamantium.
That also leaves us wondering what happened between his "**** off" to Xavier and him not remembering ANYONE in X1. I mean, according to Origins Logan had the same hair style from the civil war till atleast 1979. At some point he went for the X1 and X2 look....

Now, supposedly DoFP is supposed to reconcile the differences between Xmen trilogy and first Class. Hopefully, it will help with the Origins movie as well.
Though it's quite possible that Singer doesn't give a flying **** about Origins or The Wolverine.

Itshould be an interesting movie either way. Hopefully it doesn't leave us screaming WTF???

Style wise though, I just have to notice that aside form the Jacket and belt buckle. He is almost a direct scene from X2, vs the other wolvie movies without Singer involved. I guess that'sthe Wolvie Singer likes....

Darkside, your claws, both sets, look bloody brilliant..

I rather like the new design now....I wasn't a fan initially, simply because I liked the previous ones enough and saw no reason to change, but the new ones have a good design..I like the heavier look to them at the tip as well...Decent stuff..

Your designs hit them perfectly too....If only I had more cash, I'd be sending some your way....Sorry mate..

Warm regards..

FINALLLLLLLY, DARK! I can now sleep at night now that I have seen them. Both look great.

Thanks guys... glad you like them.
fifthchamber - I will be offering them for a while so take your time a save a little... you won't regret it. ;)

Hahah...Decent..Actually, I have the cash..I get paid decently here..The problem I have is that my PayPal can't be connected to my Japanese bank, and I have no credit cards...So all my money is cash and Japanese....

It's a pain in my butt for the most part...But if there's any way to get it sorted I'll let you know for sure mate! Thanks!

About Logan's memory loss: Does anybody remember the statement from X1? "Its been almost 15 years hasn't it? Living from day to day, moving from place to place... with no memory of who, or what you are" X1 has no real year placed either, stating its "In the not too distant future." So if we say X1 was in 2000, then Origins last scene was around 1985. But being its the not too distant future from 2000, it would put the ending of Origins even later than the mid 80's. That's how I've always thought of it

True.... but by having the XO events on "Three Mile Island" and Logan destroying it, etc.... they're HEavily pushing for us to think he caused the 1979 "meltdown". Just like how "First Class" has them set during the Cuban Missle Crisis. They seem to want our actual history mixed in with Mutants.

Though, it's a comic book movie that's never really set at a specific time or date. But if Logan is picked up by Stryker during Vietnam. He serves there for a tiny bit, and then leaves. When Stryker sees him again in the logger scenes does he say how longs its been when he comments how Logan hasn't aged? I can't remember.
It would seem to be perfectly placed for 1979.... but that's just me. MAybe an expert on military clothing could tell from Stryker's uniform, or something like that. I dunno.
I just always thought it was 79 because of the "Three mile island" incident. Though that being said, if Picard....I mean Xavier is right, 15 years. Then that sets Xmen in 1994. Which definitely wasn't the "not to distant future" haha.

Yeah I'm lost because X1 through X3 never state specific years. In Origins, he leaves the team in Africa then the next scene says 6 years later. I watch all the X Men films weekly LOL

Thanks darkside :)

Foamex is like poster board or foam board I guess, used to make signs and things like that, I guess it can get a bit brittle if it was too thin, that said if you wanted light adamantium claws that would work :)

I am loving your claws though. Get the high Rez bones up too!!

Just a though the wire or rod used to connect the grip and the claws, how rigid is it??
Currently using coat hangar wire, that's rock solid!

As far as the whole timeline goes....

I suspect we care far more than normal "healthy" people really should....They've clearly not worried overly about getting it all to fit exact, and gone instead for a rough guideline that follows along with the basic ideas....We're the only ones who worry overly about it...

The new film is meant to align some of the small discrepancies in the original films and the "First Class" line, but none of us should expect something to come through that means it'll ALL fall into place...Time to Hollywood is something that can be bent, folded, repeated and recovered easily enough...So we shouldn't pay more attention to it than to say "generally" for everything eh?

Life's too short for that....And it'll just drive us nuts.. Hehe..

I'm cool with mid 80's ish.....Even given Three Mile Island...

I suspect this isn't going to be like Ice Cube's "Today Was A Good Day" (January 20th 1992...LOL), where it'll all fit and we're golden..But who knows?LOL

Very cool info on that video. Looks like Jimmy and I came to the same conclusion on some of the improvements we made to our claws, lol.

Ok, yeah I use a 12 gauge steel wire. It is very strong. For short lengths like at the end of the claws you have to have pliers to bend it. The wire is cast right into the claw so it isn't going anywhere. ;)

Here are my bone claws:

Those are Laaaaaavly!! Maybe when I get some cash together I shall treat myself to one of your sets!!

Mine are a little thicker but I don't want to give them the opportunity to snap at the moment :) not sure how string this stuff will be..

But.. Coat hanger wire is in place and glued for the left set. Just need to work on a grip and get them in place, then it's a smoothe sand and paint.

Should start work on the right set tomorrow :)

Just mucking about!!

Dark side, just a thought chap, how long are your bone claws?? Got a feeling mine are a tad long..

Chris.

Thank you very much. I would be happy to send you a set when you are ready.

Your costume looks great. Makes me want to put one of those together. ;)

My claws are right about 10 inches long, about 1 inch tall at the knuckle, and between 1/4 to 3/8 inch thick. The thickness varies because of the uneven nature of the bone claws, of course.

That's cool... I have always wanted to visit Japan. Maybe someday I will get to go.

Anytime you can make it here let me know, I'd be happy to show you around Tokyo...

I came here for much the same reason as Logan in the books....Martial arts training at the source...It's a good place to do it I've found, and I love it here, despite the crazier things that happen.....I wouldn't change a damned thing...

The Tokyo intro will stand for anyone from the RPF of course....Any of you feel like hitting up Tokyo, let me know!

Regards..
