Wolverine all day baby! Jackets, belts, claws, oh my.

I gave up caring what people "deem" me to be about the same time as I got interested in film costumes and wearing em'....So I wouldn't really give much of a toss....

I'm guessing Wolverine is all fine with that too actually...LOL

There are still a lot of changes, but the only real one that's blatant is the larger collar...The width makes it look "hipster"..But it's not a bad look..Suits Jackman well in my opinion, and I'd be ok wearing it too....

I like the look...Hipster or not..

Essentially...

Jacket is alright but I gotta say that the buckle is lamesville.

Although actually, since Jackman has done a LOT of solid work on building up, even that'll look better this time out...For a 6 footer, he's making it work as well as anyone my height could do I think...Highly impressive stuff I thought....All for the one character too...

Also, having checked on it, apparently the comment above that I deleted was about right...

The scene isn't set in our time, or the future, so the clothes are just about right for the date, 1973...Hipster styling, wide collars, browns a lot more common and the rest of it....There are still a lot of "issues" with it, but perhaps those are cleaned up by Wolverine's headwipe sometime shortly after 1973? Who knows...Either way, no bad thing at all....

Rather cooler for knowing that actually..

Hey guys, it's been a while. Just thought I'd jump on and voice my opinions of the outfit in the newest DOFP picture. First off, I love that jacket. It's perfect for 1973 and just screams "cool". :) And second, you could put the guy in a pink tutu and he'd still be the Wolverine. :p Also, I just need to get the belt and buckle and I'll be just about 'done' with my XO costume. For now. The jacket I have isn't entirely SA, but it works for my budget and still elicits appropriate responses from those who see me in it. I'll post pics when I get the buckle.

I had a feeling it might be a scene from the past with the other guy in a corduroy suit. :D

I never said I hated the jacket but somehow it seems a little more appealing now that I know what era it came from. Go figure.

It does make sense...I'd also swear my dad rocked a jacket like that back just before I was born...I've seen photos...I've always rather liked some of the less "nutty" 70's fashion...Toned down it looks decent I reckon...

Having looked online I can't really see why "Hipster" fashion is so hated..But I ain't in America so probably missed all that...People in Japan are generally a lot less judgemental about fashion.....Ladies dressed in lolita goth fashion everyday and no one'd laugh...It's just "what they do"..No worries......I happen to rather like that aspect of life here...Far less "high school" like...

(Even in High School they don't get like that..Heh)..

I reckon it works....I wonder if they also gave him a jacket for the future scenes then?

Yeah, I would not think that he would be wearing the same jacket in the future scenes. I would imagine they probably will.

Enough talk about jackets! Here let's talk about claws: ;)

Here are some hi-res images that my wife took of my claws. (Click the image below to go to the gallery. If there is an image in the gallery that you want to see at full resolution then right-click on image and select 'View Original').

'X-Men Origins' Wolverine Claws

'The Wolverine' Claws

Quick jacket talk: the cover of DOFP Wolverine has a brown jacket with fur lining, and what is he wearing in The Wolverine? Brown with fur lining! I wonder if he wears that same one in DOFP future... unless they give him yet another

/// \\\ claw talk: how come in Origins, the claws differentiate between coming out of the back area and coming out like The Wolverine version? In the scene where he's getting info outta Blob, they don't come out at the back/behind his knuckle, they come out just like in The Wolverine. Darkside, your sets of claws look spot on!

Now I have to go back and watch that scene again. lol Throughout the whole movie (Origins) and in all the promo shots the claws wrap up over his knuckles. If that scene is different then I have no idea why they would do that.

For The Wolverine movie... I think there are two possible reasons that might explain why or maybe the reasons go hand in hand. As you can see the claws have an entirely different shape to them. The top of the blade is not flat anymore it has a sharp edge on it. So it would look a little stranger if the sharp edge wrapped up over his knuckles. So they could have changed the location because they changed the claws. Also, maybe Hugh wanted a more comfortable set of claws so they changed the location the claws come out and at the same time decided to redesign them. Or maybe it is a little of both but it is all speculation.

Aww... I was gonna post the hi-res shots of my bone claws... you beat me to it. :(

What is that stuff you used to make yours... Fomex? I haven't heard of that. How tough is that stuff? I mean could you accidentally snap a claw?

Hair and chops look great! I can't wait to see the whole costume.

Darkside, your claws, both sets, look bloody brilliant..

I rather like the new design now....I wasn't a fan initially, simply because I liked the previous ones enough and saw no reason to change, but the new ones have a good design..I like the heavier look to them at the tip as well...Decent stuff..

Your designs hit them perfectly too....If only I had more cash, I'd be sending some your way....Sorry mate..

Warm regards..
