Will We See Welling in the Costume: Yes or NO

:lol My Smallville mega-fan friend Dave just explained this show's Jimmy Olsen take to me. So this is not Jimmy in the finale, but his identical brother? haha this thing just keeps getting better... God knows when a job is vacated in this country, they look to your family to pick up the slack! We need as close a genetic match as possible to carry on this entry-level photography gig! haha it's like Avatar... I'll add that to the final season weird movie pickup list along with The Hangover, Blind Date, and Iron Man.

Not his identical twin. Just the same actor. The first Jimmy died 3ish(?) years ago or so and there's a shot, as I recall, showing his little brother 'Jimmy'.

Ah, my mistake. Not Jimmy's "identical brother," but Jimmy's "little brother 'Jimmy" played by the same actor. :lol

I watched the show from day one but gave up during the 5-6 season. I got tired of 'Clark fights another krypto villain but still can't date Lana or tell her about his powers'. It got really old.

But I did catch the last 20 minutes of the finale. If that was indeed the 'Returns' suit from the WB costume dept/archives it would not have fit Welling properly without heavy modifications, as it was not designed for him.

Showing what they did was probably all they could given WB not wanting Welling to be seen as 'Superman' anyway, just Smallville's Clark Kent.

Chloe's Jimmy was later explained (at the funeral) to be Henry James Olson.
I think his brother Is supposed to be James Bartholomew Olson.

So....( i didn't much watch the show, but saw 4 or 5 eps)....before he becomes Superman, he had to contend with Zod, Bizzarro, Doomsday, Darkseid...and numerous others?

What's he got left to do?

Well, there's all those back-alley stick-up jobs to stop...probably some natural disasters...cat in a tree, maybe?

Naw he'll still have to face them, look at how many times each of those characters have come back in the comics. And in a previous episode at the end of it they had Zod, Ursa and Non in the mirror of the phantom zone that we saw in Superman II.

I enjoyed the series finale but the last few years have been pretty weak. Often marked with inconsistent character development and tinges of political partisanship while ignoring past plot-lines. I still enjoyed the series, I just enjoyed the last few years about 40%.

Now onto rumors...
I've heard in the rumor mill that there is supposed to be a spin-off series and that Welling is connected/contracted for a year. It's most likely nothing but if it was....

....My guess would be that the next series will be a Superfriends type series staring Shanks as a reborn Hawkman with Green Arrow as his in team pseudo-antagonist. Why else show the "legion of Evil" (or whatever they are called) with the "Black Manta"?

After all they tried to do a Aquaman (worst superpower ever) series as a spin-off :)

Yeah, don't you remember reading those comics growing up? Each time a new villain made an appearance, his first words were "Hey Clark, what's with the tights?"

There's no way this is true. There's a new Superman on the horizon and the old WB will be backing that movie to the teeth. Also, there's a Justice League script that's been in development at WB for at least 10 years and WB is really trying to follow in the footsteps of Marvel - establishing characters with a connective background so they can work their way up to their Avengers movie which will be Justice League. These films will be big and overblown projects which I'm afraid leaves poor Smallville out of mind. I can't believe I'm saying this but I would have much rather seen Welling as Superman in the upcoming or last movie - no need for origins or meet so and so sequences - he could have hit the ground running, but his time is over. Rumors like these are probably being started by fans who miss the show already and refuse to believe that can be it -- when all evidence points to the fact that it is.

Would have been nice to be able to skip the origin, and I don't mind Welling's look - but I really would hate for this origin to carry into the movies. Everyone knows who he is, and his Superman persona is an amalgamation of bits he picked up from B-listers like Supergirl, Booster Gold, and Green Arrow. He should be the grandfather of all Superheroes! Welling also acts like the male model that he is (was). Not much interesting to him, and he's boyish without being charming.

I only saw the first ten episodes and the JSA episodes, had zero investment in this show, yet still feel robbed that you never really see him as Sups. What a poor choice.

Adding the Williams score was an insult to Williams. That showing didn't deserve it.
