Will We See Welling in the Costume: Yes or NO

Unfortunately that will never happen. At least we have The Man of Steel to look foward to in 2012

I loved their logic for it back around 'returns' a 3ish years ago. "It would confuse the fan."

Yeah, sure it would. It's not like people can separate TV and movies or anything.

Worth mentioning that Rosenbaum's bald cap was actually really good. I couldn't tell if they CGI'd the seams away completely, but it was very convincing. If they had not made an announcement that he did not shave his head, I never would have known.

Loved the episodes 2 things I didn't like we didn't see welling in full suit and Lex was a clone. Loved the ending now we need a comic that will follow on where the show left of.

I have yet to see the finale but from what I have see so far I think that its the best way they could of finished the show, This was never the story of superman, it was Clarks journey to becoming the earths saviour (The Man of steel)

From what I have heard Through the word of mouth and what not, The writers have not given up on the hope of returning at some point to give the fans a special with Tom in full costume but thats just a rumour

hahah this was so terrible! We paused it every few seconds to laugh, it seemed.

Lex decided to be a villain who hopes Superman is always stopping him?

Lois and Clark decided to pretend they don't really know each other anymore for seven years until one day they announce they're married?

There's a published comic called SMALLVILLE which tells Clark's story? Is this just because everyone in this world knows who he is anyway?

It only takes seven years for someone with zero memory of anything to become president?

"Your heroes have five minutes." Five minutes to spend watching a montage of all their rescues. Five more minutes to spend looking at their new suit. Five minutes to press their face up against the glass of the plane's window and make faces at you. Five minutes to hang out with their ghost dad.

And what is with the ghost dad??? He's really there? What gives JK this power?

Ugh, I could go on and on... At least it went out in a way that fit the series, with a garbage finale! I always feel embarrassed for the few good actors on this series. Rosenbaum, Durance, Glover - they live in the moment and deliver their lines as best they can. It's too bad they're never making sense, or really saying much of anything at all and nothing ever matters.

My wife nailed it when he found his resolve after he floated in midair and found his "super" self: "That's NOT Superman. He can be "the Blur."

Good riddance to a blight on the good Superman name! :cheers

I thought the last episode was kind of a ripoff, after all these years Fans were expecting to see him in the Superman Tights and Cape and all they gave us was a few minutes and even that was CGI, with the exception of the Chest Logo reveal at the end! VERY Disappointing!!!

I don't know IF they have any plans to continue with the same actors on a show called "Metropolis" and have Clark in the Suit, that would be interesting to see...

Totally agree.

One quick correction (not that this improves the point, mind you :p ) but apparently since they never exchanged the rings at the marriage or finished the ceremony, they didn't technically get married. There was a quick scene in the "7 years later" part where they made some reference to finally getting married and Clark said something like 'I was ready 7 years ago'. Still lame but whatever...

I was angry about it last night but this is quickly evolving into the same way I feel about other franchises... I'm just too frustrated by it all to continue to care much less stay mad. I'll focus on something better and hope something decent comes down the pike eventually (probably only movies at this point since superhero tv shows seem to pretty much suck across the board - except the first season of Heroes which was pretty good.)

It's very frustrating for a self-proclaimed live-action superhero "afficionado" like myself. I believe superheroes on tv COULD work still... there were a handful of Smallville episodes that even prove the point but not many IMHO.

Keeping in mind I have not watched this show with any regularlity, I have to ask, what's with all the hate? Mad because he wasn't in the suit and saw him perfectly framed? Okay, for display purposes, I suppose it does kind of suck. But this show wasn't really about Superman was it? It was about Clark Kent, Kal'el, growing up and growing INTO Superman, wasn't it? That it was his journey to taking up the mantle, not so much about the mantle itself. Sure, probably would have been nicer to see a clearer shot of him wearing the costume, but was it that terrible to not see it?

If you haven't watched the show and haven't been involved in previous discussions about it, it's simply kind of hard to sum up 10 years worth of disappointment and frustration that at least a few of us feel in regards to the missed potential of the show.

I respect the opinions of those that love the show and I've stuck with it because I love the mythos but the writing and production values of this show - in my opinion - have always been lackluster and largely formulaic as compared to another less popular, equally budget-challenged but infinitely better CW show (again, in my humble opinion) like Supernatural. I had a previous post in this thread that stated my reasons for my feelings of anger and disappointment and I wouldn't be surprised if they are shared with others that are frustrated by the show.

As for the argument "this show isn't about Superman", Jet Beetle made a rather good point about it after I mentioned it earlier in this thread.

Eh, I had essentially nothing invested in the show, so otherwise enjoyed the finale. Unlike BSG, which I watched all episodes and was extremely disappointed with, 'god did it.'

I highly doubt that will happen, I hope it does though. I haven't heard that info anywhere and I scour the internet daily for Smallville/Superman info. Where did you hear this?

The problem for me is that I never felt like Clark had really become Superman by the end of the finale. I have watched Smallville since the beginning and it had all been building up to Clark becoming Superman. All they needed was to show Tom in full Superman costume standing in front of all the citizens that he had just saved with everyone cheering and it would have felt like an epic ending for Smallville. Instead, we ended up with a poorly done CGI suit and a very sad battle against Darkseid. I really liked Lex Luthors return to Smallville but I hated how they just wiped his memory. Jonathan and Martha Kent were bright points in the show for me. Overall, not seeing Tom wearing the complete suit after all this time was a huge let down. They pretty much blue-balled us!

Seriously? They told us 10 years ago the flying and suit wouldn't happen. And you are pissed because they held to their word? That's like taking the virgin that took the abstinence pledge to prom and then getting mad she didn't give it up.

No flights no tights....yet they end up doing it anyway in the finale? Why bother if you are going to half ass the tights part? Not only that but every bit of promotional piece for the finale teased at us seeing the suit. Not to mention seeing it in the Fortress several times. So yeah I'm let down.

That nails it, IMO.

If you wanna stick to the no flights no tights schpiel (which was the motto of the two guys who left the show like 5 years ago) - don't tease the people with flying and the actual tights for over a year. It doesn't work both ways.

Needless to say that with the help of Vash and Streetjudge, you will see Welling in a full Superman Returns suit (in one way or another ). For everyone who wanted to see what he would look like as Superman in detail, I promise you it's coming. Sorry, I can't make him fly:)
