Hey all,
Just wanted to post up my latest addition to the collection. A few of you may have seen these wolves posted on the HMA and such, but this one's kinda special
Pat Magee of http://mageefx.com offered a lifesized AWIL style wolf earlier in the year (I believe they're still available...). The standard run was good, but the coloring was very dark and the fur was an acrylic shag. Good, but not great. The pose was also extremely dynamic. It made for an exciting display, but IMO, looked a bit "long and lean" compared to the picture in my mind of the werewolf in the film.
So Pat and I discussed some options. He changed the pose for me and used NFT yak hair throughout. The fur colors were chosen by me to match the original I'd seen at Bob Burns's place. Pat hand punched the hair on the face and tweaked a few other things as well. After a bit of a wait, it's finally arrived and I snapped some quick pics today.
Usually, things look better in person than in pics. This, however, is MUCH better in person than in pics. It's really something. Huge too. I'd guess it might even be 10% or so bigger than the original, but that's cool I'd say it's about 5'6" long from the tip of his nose to where the tail would start if he had one. Just massive in person... the scale of it just doesn't come through in the pics.
He fit right into the place I cleared for him. The flash pics make the fur look very contrasty... in person it's a very nice blend from the darker mane to the rest of the body. The last shot (the side by side) was taken without a flash and shows it off reasonably well.
Anyway, I haven't been this stoked about a new display in a while... hope you enjoy the pics.
Tom
