Who's afraid of the BIG bad WOLF!??

Hey all,

Just wanted to post up my latest addition to the collection. A few of you may have seen these wolves posted on the HMA and such, but this one's kinda special :D

Pat Magee of http://mageefx.com offered a lifesized AWIL style wolf earlier in the year (I believe they're still available...). The standard run was good, but the coloring was very dark and the fur was an acrylic shag. Good, but not great. The pose was also extremely dynamic. It made for an exciting display, but IMO, looked a bit "long and lean" compared to the picture in my mind of the werewolf in the film.

So Pat and I discussed some options. He changed the pose for me and used NFT yak hair throughout. The fur colors were chosen by me to match the original I'd seen at Bob Burns's place. Pat hand punched the hair on the face and tweaked a few other things as well. After a bit of a wait, it's finally arrived and I snapped some quick pics today.

Usually, things look better in person than in pics. This, however, is MUCH better in person than in pics. It's really something. Huge too. I'd guess it might even be 10% or so bigger than the original, but that's cool :D I'd say it's about 5'6" long from the tip of his nose to where the tail would start if he had one. Just massive in person... the scale of it just doesn't come through in the pics.

He fit right into the place I cleared for him. The flash pics make the fur look very contrasty... in person it's a very nice blend from the darker mane to the rest of the body. The last shot (the side by side) was taken without a flash and shows it off reasonably well.

Anyway, I haven't been this stoked about a new display in a while... hope you enjoy the pics.

Tom

:D

me too. LOL

I wanna add a big THANKS to Pat as well. He was super cool about discussing options and such and is a true artist in every sense of the word.

BTW- wolfie over there came with a friend.... also made by Pat (and still available... email him through his site if you're interested or hit www.theHMA.net

I loved that when it was introduced back on the HMA, and the beefed up version looks ALOT better...... If I had the money and the room, I would have one.....

thanks.

The "beef" comes from the hair and the pose. The shag fur on the standard lays a bit flat. The NFT is more dense and animal like. It stands up more and makes the arms look more meaty... which is a good thing.

Can't stress enough that the pics don't convey the size and mass of it. For instance, the mouth is open wide enough that you could probably get your head in there w/o touching the fangs.

That is INSANE... Man would that scare the @#$%.e out of the wife if put out in the hall overnight :lol Man could I have some fun with that :D

hell it scared me when i scrolled down. :eek

i was like... pic of toms same ol collection... HOLY CRAP...

yeah, wow... i bet thats frickin stunning in person.

and just in time for halloween...

tell me thats going to be in your hallway while giving candy... please... LOL... :thumbsup :thumbsup

Man, what a difference the thicker fur makes. Pat did a phenomenal job. Now all it needs is a body lying in front of it :)

awesome....

the one on the website is terrific, but it looks more like man than manbeast. sort of the mid transformation sequence where the guy is still a little skinny.

yours with the "upgrades" is friggin outstanding.... all he needs is a big doggy bowl or a newspaper (or maybe a fluffy squek bone :lol) and it will be complete.

one hell of an addition man.
chris

You need to put a six-pack of Dr. Pepper next to his doggie bowl. ;)

Totally friggin AWSOME..

:eek HOLY CRAP. That thing scares the living @#$% out of me. After seeing this, I now I need TWO night-lights to sleep soundly tonight :p . Awesome piece BTW.

Seth

P.S.-- If I was you, I'd place it behind the front door on Halloween and put a note that reads: "Disabled. Candy bowl behind door" on the front door. Then I would install a sound device similar to those seen in gift cards on the door hinge that emmits a very loud shriek when the door is opened. I bet that would "unload" a few people if you know what I mean ;) . Other than that, I'd quietly place it in someone's bedroom while they're sleeping in there and record their horrified look on their face when they wake up to it in the middle of the night :lol .

Again, that's a fine piece in your collection and you should be proud to have it.

Very nice.

I remember seeing pictures of the other style wolf and thinking it looked great, but something was a little off (but not enough to ruin the overall effect). This one looks even better

:thumbsup

Tom, that thing is @#$%.ing terrifying. And I'm having flashbacks..........

(distant howl)

Listen.

Do you hear it?

We must go to them.

I heard nothing.

(distant howl)

Nor I.

(howling)

Did you hear that?

- I heard that.
- What was it?

Could be a lot of things.

Yeah?

- A coyote.
- There aren't any coyotes in England.

- The hound of the Baskervilles?
- Pecos Bill?

- Heathcliff.
- Heathcliff didn't howl.

No, but he was on the moors.

It's a full moon.

- (both) Beware the moon.
- And stick to the road.

Oops.

(howling)

I vote we go back
to The Slaughtered Lamb.

Yeah.

Hey, wait a minute. We're lost.

- (howling)
- Ah, @#$%., David. What is that?

- I don't know. Come on.
- Come on where?

Anywhere. I think we should
just keep moving.

(growling)

It's moving.

It's circling us.

Ah, @#$%..

- What's the plan?
- Plan?

Let's just keep walkin'.

That's right.
A lovely stroll on the moors.

Tra-la-la-la-la

Isn't this fun?

(growling)

It's in front of us.

Do you think it's a dog?

Oh, @#$%.. What is it?

It's a sheepdog or somethin'.
Come on. Turn slowly. Let's walk away.

Nice doggie. Good boy.

Come on, Jack. Walk away.

Walking away. Yes.
Here we are, walking away.

- Can you see anything?
- No.

(growling)

- Sounds far away.
- Not far enough. Come on.

But, Jack, where are we going?

- I'll tell you when we get there.
- OK, cos... Arghhh.

You really scared me, you @#$%.head.

You gonna help me up or what?

(ferocious growl)

*****. *****. @#$%..

*****. @#$%.. Oh, God. Help. Help.

(snarling/screaming)

Jack...

Jack...

Jack?

(ferocious growl)

thanks guys.

Love that scene, wook :thumbsup

All credit really belongs with Pat on this one. He did an amazing job on the sculpt and heck, just taking on something this big is worthy of praise IMO.

When I came up with ideas for changes, he was totally open to discussing them and brought it all together in a way that's just amazing. I'm really REALLY pleased with this piece and am so proud of what Pat and his guys did for me..

Tom
