"Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" Love letter added!!

Re: "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" Eddie's toon gun, and other stuff too . . .

Here's better "Nephew Rescue" paper pics. THese are the best I can get. I know that we're missing the lower half of the Eddie and Teddy photo, but I'm convinced we can get a solid paper prop from this.
Good luck Fyfe!

I'll be casting up the Vialnt pistol this weekend, and we'll get some interest drummed up!!

Re: "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" Eddie's toon gun, and other stuff too . . .

If I can just track down the right shape (square), size (about 20cm x 20cm) and colour (navy blue) of box for the Portable Holes, then I'll put up the graphic without the watermark. Anyone know where to get them?

Oh, and does anyone know if the newspapers happen to be real titles or made up? Wandering about the logo behind the papers title...

Re: "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" Eddie's toon gun, and other stuff too . . .

there is an art supply place near here that carries a wide variety of boxes in diff colors
what is that in inches for a lazy american

Re: "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" Eddie's toon gun, and other stuff too . . .

Yeah that looks perfect size wise, now we just have to find it in navy blue.....

EDIT: After some more work on the newspaper, this is where I'm at:

The patty cake photo ain't the best, but it's not too bad.

Pretty happy with all the text I've identified so far, except for:

  1. Above "TOON" in the headline it says "VOL. ??????" - can't make out what the volume number is.
  2. The date under the "Los Angeles Chronicle" is either August 16 or 18, and I *think* it says 1947, but not sure about the year - any in film references to the year?
  3. I've put in all the text below the photos that I can make out from my screencaps - no idea what any of the rest says.
  4. I'm guessing that "Drouth" (definately how it's spelled on the original prop) is a mis-spelling of "Drought", as "Worst Drought in 10 Years Grips States in C......." would make sense.
And of course the papers logo - I need to track that one down:

EagleHerald.jpg

High Res caps would help with the Volume issue as well as the text directly below the photos, but the rest of the text doesn't show up in the movie.

Can anyone help with any of this?

The Valiant's toon revolver and the Portable Holes are two of my favorite "props" of all time! And, one day, when finally I'll end all my current WIP prop stuff, I'll build it for sure! :love

Thanks guys for all this inputs! And many thanks to Hotshot to had started this topic (and congratulation for your toon revolver replica)! :thumbsup

no porblem! THreads like this are what this place is all about! Enjoy!!!

Re: "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" Eddie's toon gun, and other stuff too . . .

As far as that gift box is concerned, it is absolutely perfect - though it does not come in blue, I am sure that can be changed by adding vinyl, in the correct color, around the box. Airbrushing the color on would be an option too.
Of course, you could contact the manufacterer and inquire about additional colors as well.

Re: "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" Eddie's toon gun, and other stuff too . . .

I might try contacting the manufacturer. Of course, I really don't want to buy 50! :lol

OK, I've finally tracked down what the heraldic eagle from the newspaper title is - it's the US Coat of Arms or Presidential Seal. Unfortunately I can NOT find the correct version. :angry

Closest I can get are these:

or

Wings and motto banner are too high/angeled on both versions.

Anyone know what the correct version is?

You supply the art, I'll supply the run! I dont think a set of three would be a bad little purchase do you?

And the more I look at those prop boxes, the more I think they're wrapped in blue paper with a label on top.

Re: "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" Eddie's toon gun, and other stuff too . . .

If you want to look into doing that, I'll give you the artwork if it works out to be feasible.

Best I've found for the box are these:

http://www.aagiftsandbaskets.com/executive_sampler_gift_box.html

Size is 7 3/8" x 7 3/8" x 2 1/4" - pretty much perfect.

Unfortunately they do not ship outside of the US, have a minimum order of 12, and will not sell just the boxes (I asked).

Re: "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" Eddie's toon gun, and other stuff too . . .

Hmmm . .interesting.

I have got a load of those boxes coming from Uline, I'll experiment with them. The gun gets cast (FINALLY) Tomorow, and will be 'unveiled' Friday.

I've had some issues with another prop that put me a bit behind schedule.

Re: "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" Eddie's toon gun, and other stuff too . . .

great
now friday will take twice as long to get here

Re: "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" Eddie's toon gun, and other stuff too . . .

OK, after searching the internet I cannot find the right version of the eagle for the newspaper ANYWHERE. So, a lot of cutting, pasting and drawing later, I now have a Frankenstein's eagle that I'm happy enough with:

Slowly getting there....

Looking forward to seeing your toon gun Hotshot. :)

Re: "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" Eddie's toon gun, and other stuff too . . .
