Re: White Witch from Narnia Battlegown Build -FINISHED CHAINMAIL

I finally found a bit for my dremel that actually let me file some of this, and I'm liking the shape of the spindly bits better, but it's left it rather fuzzy, and hand-filing just seems to create new fuzz. I'm going to use filler to help smooth out the rest of the crown but I'm not quite sure what to do about these little guys.

Re: White Witch from Narnia Battlegown Build -FINISHED CHAINMAIL

Probably just talking to myself at this point, but oh well...

I put a thin layer of apoxie sculpt all over to try and smooth it as much as possible (I definitely need practice), then I dremeled, sanded, filled with spot filler, sprayed with filler primer, rinse, repeat.... till I got it as close as I could get with my current skill level. I sprayed it with a base coat of a bronze color, and now I'm gold-leafing it. I might try and sand off some flakes of the gold to show the base layer before I put on the antiquing glaze and maybe some rub n buff.

I'm glad you're sharing your progress. You're really doing a wonderful job on a challenging costume.

Not talking yourself, this is really good work, looking forward to seeing the completed outfit.

And this is all I'm going to post until after Dragon Con. I'm going to post all my build info, but since I've been working on this for 4 years, I kind of wanted to do a big debut! I just have to do some styling, ventilate more on the wig, and build a couple swords. And for the record, I managed to find that glorious Master Replica wand on eBay

Wow. WOW! Fantastic work, this looks absolutely incredible! I know what a repetitive pain making chainmaille can be, I made a basic quarter-sleeve tunic, using 15g 5/16" steel rings, and it took me just over a year and a half. Good thing you were wise enough to go with aluminum rings, this would have been ridiculously heavy using steel! Can't wait to see the completed cosplay, amazing work!

Re: White Witch from Narnia Battlegown Build -FINISHED CHAINMAIL

Thank you! I don't actually do cosplay, though, I'm a costumer :)
I'll be posting the completed look next month!

Re: White Witch from Narnia Battlegown Build -FINISHED CHAINMAIL

Just joined so I could reply to your outstanding work. I've been searching the Internet for info on this costume to build and your posts are sure going to help me! Thank you :)

I've finally finished this piece!

I need to fiddle with the wig to make it fit without feeling like it's going to fall off (it's my first wig build and very back-heavy with nothing to pin to in front)
I'm going to be updating all my build information, I kept that sort-of to myself before the contest I was entering. I'm pretty proud of this thing, since I'm a seamstress and this was quite a bit out of my comfort zone. First, pictures from Bryan Humphrey at Dragon Con 2015

I entered this in the Friday Night Costume competition and received the award for Best Make-Up (which surprised me, because I can't apply eye-liner right. I couldn't hear what they were saying but I was told it was for the crown and wig and everything. But then I was STUNNED when I ended up getting the Audience Choice award. I *never* win popularity contests! People usually cheer for the flashiest, largest costume, or obviously for the kid. I was worried no one would even recognize the character since when Muggles would ask me about my chainmail, no one seemed to remember the movie. They also posted pictures of all people in the Professional category on Facebook for a Social Media favorite award, which I also won! (Really, it blows me away. I've been staring at this thing for 4 years so maybe I'm a bit jaded by it!)

Here's one preview pic of the Narnia group my friends and I put together for D*C, I will have more pictures later. We had all of the Pevensie children and were lucky enough to come across a great Mr. Tumnus!

I'll post some build info once I take a few more pictures!

Yah! Thanks so much for sharing this! And congratulations on the much deserved wins! Truly, you nailed every subtle aspect of her costume. That first picture absolutely blows my mind, with the castle wall backdrop. Utterly fantastic!

I saw you at DragonCon and it's even more spectacular in person. Not surprising that you took home some major awards.
