The glass eye would normally be on the Graflex? Is this a found item, or can you only get custom made ones???

I think it is a custom piece or some sort of thumbscrew. It does not look like the glass eye and in the original it doesn't look like it is even threaded like the glass eye, but inserted in the hole.

Kenny makes one where it screws into the the existing socket hole. But yes, from what I can rememebr about the MOM tour one, it looked like it was epoxied in place and not threaded in.

I think what the actual piece is is still up for debate. The best suggestion I've seen for a found item is from a few years ago. Someone found a metal valve stem that looked extremely close to what they used on the saber. I used to have one when I had my Vader ROTJ and it worked like a dream. I see them on eBay from time to time.

Have any pictures of what you had? Any links or where to get one?

Yes, sir! That's exactly the kind of stem I had. One of the things that, to me, really locked this piece (or something similar) in as being what they would have used is a few pics I've seen of the real prop which suggest that the underside of that part is not solid but hollowed out--just like on the valve stem I had. If you were going to custom make the part why would you include such a detail? All of this is still conjecture, I think, but it's the best solution anyone's come up with to my knowledge.

I'm not sure - I did a google image search for "metal stem valve", and thats what I found - wondering if this is what they meant...

It's a valve stem for your tires (the part where you attach the air hose when you fill them up). Some guys like to have custom chrome parts for their rims rather than the good ol' rubber cheapies. The flat round part which we see on the Vader saber is the part that holds it in place from inside the rim. The other parts unscrew and leave the stem and the flat bit (don't know what the name for that part is).

Cheers,

Dave

Those stems are readily available at any auto parts store. I've seen several sets at my local Advance Auto.

Just took a trip to Auto Zone - didnt find any. However, I just bought one cheap from ebay - but it looks like it may a little too small... I guess we'll see when it shows up...

Eureka!! Here is the chrome plated part I got today at the auto parts store that I attached to my Vader saber. It was interesting to install, but it looks great and I think just like the original.
