Indeed. Since I posted that I came across another Kango. With Markus’ help and a few others, I’m closing on all the parts needed for not one, but two of them. I suspect I will kit the second one and sell it in the Junkyard. But only after I actually get one together…

Working my way through the lovely kit designed by PaulFSebastian.
It's an absolutely beautifully engineered thing although it was designed with FDM in mind rather than SLA so I've had to do some jiggery pokery to make it work for me.
Can't wait to start slapping some paints on it.

Anyone remember the thread title? Several database upgrades and reloads have rendered the searches time marked.

Example: If I look up jessamygriffin in users, it finds nothing but if I place the same in the search field for titles of threads, etc., it brings up her old threads.

It seems that changes to user status is catastrophic in the database.

Feels like I'm interrupting something but, uh, hey how about a TOS-inspired medical scanner?

I had this microscope eyepiece sitting around since I was a kid, and it always reminded me of McCoy's TOS-era hand scanner. It's a simple build with a multicolor flashing LED, a small button cell battery holder, and a tactical switch at the back. The lens is a spray bottle cap hit with a matte clear, with a smaller lens that I had on hand inside it for diffusion.

The result has something of a Galaxy Quest feel to it, so I'm pairing it on display with my surface mapper build. (Which still doesn't have electronics, hmu if you know anything about designing complex circuits).

Sorry if I posted this before but working on a Kentucky flintlock rifle restoration for cosplay. My uncle found a discarded stock at his cousin's and I have been refinishing it. It was missing all lock and trigger guard pieces so I am making these on my 3d printer.

Both the trigger guard and trigger assembly are printed. I was sizing the trigger assembly and have not yet painted it. The guard was painted brown first then and overtone of gold to settle it back to red brass. If I had left it white it would be bright gold now.

I remember going to a funeral home to cast little rifle pieces like these in metal (they were doing sandcasting mold on the premise for their tombstones)...real cheap and accurate

Following up on post #2,529…

This morning, I completed a revision and repair of my Atomic City Botany Bay.

The model was originally completed in 2017 and I was never quite satisfied with the finish:

The delicate antenna panels suffered damage about, a year ago, when I was rearranging some things (they were snapped completely off). This gave me an opportunity to revisit this build with a completely revised paint job and weathering pattern that was closer to the studio original, in the course of completing the repair, using Archive X paints:
