What's on your workbench? (no Star Wars, Marvel or DC stuff)

Ha!... My work bench is literally in a Georgian cellar under the house the printer is in a north facing Anex which gets no sun and is like a Fridge all year round so a bit mindful of any fluctuations which could cool the bed and lift the print off the plate.
So, a bit more like a dungeon lab than a backyard workshop...

The weather is finally getting warm enough (and my schedule open enough) for me to get out and sling some primer around.

It literally is!
It was built either 1795 or 1835
And the old kitchen oven was mysteriously bricked up, probably hiding a Tell Tale heart.

But I digress..

I've got a Martian War Machine sat on my bench that's not going to build itself and needs LED lights and maybe a Cow or two as thinking of a homage to a Mars Attacks diorama?
And my list of SW stuff keeps getting pushed aside.
Don't even get me started on my Bambu alerting me that my Xeno has run out of filament mid build and I'm a whole continent away from my printer atm so can do nothing..

I laughed, I cried, I raised one spock eyebrow. So, super cool on the house (I and wife are super fans of home history), sketchy on the possible body in the wall (oh, ya, I would be shoring up a temp load bearing wall just to get at that hidy hole) and question on the xeno. So you are getting alerts on your phone to replace filament.... which means, you have the automated function of saving your print instead of just walking in to find it half done yet claiming to be done?

It alerted saying filament stuck/ could not reload which I think was maybe a Spool error which I've had before. I checked the time lapse images and it's paused gone through the motions or re heating nosel cutting then trying to load new filament. In my haste I loaded a Spool without AMS pick ups?
That could be the problem?
My webcam I use to monitor my prints showing this...

When I get back I'll see if I can check last layer line and print from that point on and see if they will line up.

In ref to houses It looks like Vincent hasn't been in our cellar... Or has he?
We have cobble cellar floors which works well for the house but storage and workspace can create a world of problems with damp and mold. Anything precious gets stored in plastic bins..

Here we go again..
So far so good.

1000116826.jpg

Alert at 2.05am this morning as the filament jammed so off I pop waking up dogs in the process, this happens again at 3am so I sit with it for twenty minutes then realise the printer shake had knocked another reel into the AMS causing it to run slowly.

9.26am the print is all fine and off the bed!

Just a quick de sprued shot in a box..

It came out intact except for one finger nail which I fixed with baking soda and superglue. Undecided but might crank the inner tongue open and remove some of the mouth ligaments and once painted add a more transparent look. I've also got boxes of dental teeth so might either use them or recast them in pewter..

This weekend, I started a project intended to replicate the surviving Greg Jein “The Cage” / “Where No Man Has Gone Before” Hand Laser.

So far, I’ve assembled and “wired” the main body and begun the first few passes of “weathering” the barrel.

This will be a “warts and all” replica (pictured with a previous “stunt” build):

The original Jein laser:

This build will also have a simple incandescent light, like the original:

The vintage mini light appears to be one of these…

Today I received an ID card printing attachment for my inkjet printer. Still a little tweaking to do on the exact positioning of the print, but I'm quite happy with it so far.

Working my way through the lovely kit designed by PaulFSebastian.
It's an absolutely beautifully engineered thing although it was designed with FDM in mind rather than SLA so I've had to do some jiggery pokery to make it work for me.
Can't wait to start slapping some paints on it.

So, a specific, but unnamed individual (above), got me interested in finishing my Ron Swanson cosplay. Due to the ever decreasing coverage on my hairline, I had chosen a hatted scene. So, somewhere around September 2024, I got word that two of the 4 major public service vendors in town were doing coat collections for our homeless who were about to face one of our longest winters in years. So somehow, during my bagging up coats, my twin coat, to this scene, went in the bag. So a-thrifting-we-will-go.
