What actor is the best cast as the superhero character they play?

The Deadpool in Origins was played by Scott Adkins. Never understood why the didn't just slap Ryan in makeup and teach him some moves. Scott Adkins is a great Martial Artist though. If you haven't seen it check out "Ninja".

I was the opposite.. Being a big fan of Scott Adkins, I thought why not just use him.. Awesome martial artist.. Other movies to watch of Adkins is Undisputed II and III of course..

Most have been said:

Ron Pearlman in Hellboy

Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark

Heath Ledger as The Joker

Patrick Stewart as Professor X

Brandon Lee as The Crow

Brandon Lee as The Crow. Every other actor playing that role in the subsequent movies pale in comparison.

Come on, my boy Mark Dacascos did okay in the series, though he was splitting image of Brandon..

And of course on Lee, Bruce Lee as Kato

Hugh Jackman as Wolverine

Weasley Snipes as Blade

Robin Williams as Popeye ( If that counts )

And I thought Toby Maguire as Spiderman / Peter Parker

I think Ryan Reynolds should have pushed for a movie for The Flash, and be The Flash, Green Lantern didn't suit him..

Nearly a dead heat for me with Chris Reeve and Robert Downey Jr. but I've got to give it to Reeve as he, in my opinion, was both Clark and Superman; so honest/true to each of those sides of that singular coin.

Mark Ruffalo is by far the best of the new Hulks. I liked Ed Norton but Ruffalo is Bruce Banner.

I would have loved to see Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern

might be out there but : wesley snipes(blade)
RDJ AS IRONMAN IN MY OPINION NO ONE BETTER NO ONE GREATER !

Ryan Reynolds never should have been Green Lantern. He just isn't Hal Jordan.
He should have been Flash. Wally West Flash, not Barry Allen Flash.

Billy D. Williams as Harvey Dent? I remember seeing that and going, "Two-Face is going to be black?"

Sorry Jim Carrey, Frank Gorshin will always be the Riddler to me. The Riddler is supposed to be clever and Carrey is just silly. Tommy Lee Jones wasn't very impressive either.

I liked all of the casting THE WATCHMEN except the Owl. He was supposed to be a "has been" middle aged guy facing a mid-life crisis who gets his confidence back after hooking up with a hot younger woman. Screwed the pooch there in my opinion. But I guess no one really wanted to see a fat middle aged guy have a sex scene.

I agree with many of the things here though.

Michelle Pfifer was a really good Catwoman.
Danny Devito as Penguin was pretty good.

I'm not sure if I feel a little differently about "best cast" than most of us here. To me, it means that the actor fit the extablished character... not necessarily someone who changed the character or had the character written differently due to who was casted as the character.

Robert Downey Jr. is a great example. He played a great film Stark/Iron Man... but, the movie version of Tony Stark doesn't really match up with the comic book version.

This is what I thought of Andrew Garfield in THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN. It felt like he (and the director) were trying to make Peter Parker "cooler" for the movie than the character is in the comic. Like, where did the skateboard come from? That was never in the comic.

I think that's obvious. Andrew Garfield is nothing more than Peter Parker in name... he looks and acts little like the Peter Parker that I knew from the comics. I don't know what people see in the new Spidey series, it just seemed to miss on so many marks.

...I mentioned RDj as Tony Stark just because he's been mentioned so much in this thread. RDj sure brought the character he played to life, did a great job and he deserves kudos for helping to establish the Marvel Movie Universe.

I wonder if the TS/IM caharcter was as well established in media outside comics as Spider-Man if it would've been noticed?

I am going to go with..
Ron Pearlman in Hellboy
and
Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark

I couldn't have picked a better match

Also Jackie Earle Haley as Roarschach

What do you think?

COMPLETE agreement here. They couldn't have found ANY actors better suited for those roles if they tried.

Not much into superhero films, but I Robert Downey Jr. did a good job in the Iron Man films, especially the second one. He did a good job of portraying Stark's struggles. I also liked Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. He made Fury a very mysterious character.

Like everyone said, RDJ is Stark. Evans as Cap was great. Keaton Batman, I can't stand Christian Bale's Batman. I don't really even like his Bruce. Personally I'd like to see Jon Hamm as Bruce Wayne/Batman. And if they were to do a Red Hood movie Jensen Ackles could reprise his role as Jason. Hell, Jared Padalecki could make a decent Nightwing too. Christopher Reeve's Superman was great, but I'm a huge Superman fan and I don't get the entirety of the character from him, we probably never will from anyone. Still great though. The Hoff as the original Nick Fury. Stewart's X. Ryan Reynold as Wade Wilson/Deadpool is spot on. He was an awful GL, that role should have been reserved for Nate Fillion. Pretty much everyone in the Watchmen were phenomenal. I wouldn't change anything about those characters. I love Huge Jackedman as Wolverine, but like others said, he's too tall, too nonchalant cool and not angsty enough. I think Christian Kane would be a decent representation of the character.

My 2 cents off the top of my head.

I'm... not sure if you're trolling or not...

Ah... what might have been...

Green Lantern Fan Made Trailer - YouTube

I find it absolutely hilarious that the decision to cast Ryan Reynolds over Nathan Fillion was so universally hated by the fanbase after seeing that fan trailer that they went ahead and cast him as Hal Jordan in the DC Animated movie Justice League: Doom.

And yes, Fillion absolutely nailed Hal Jordan in that movie.
