Started working on this last weekend. Just the mask right now, and the 3d prototype for the armor.

First time I've gotten to get my hands on a hunk of clay in a long time, and this is the first mask sculpt I've ever done, so critique and advice is GREATLY appreciated. It's going to be molded with ultracal, and cast in ecoflex

This will be turned into papercraft patterns to use as bases to sculpt on.

Looking great, maybe elongate the face slightly more though. The Earth Caste had the squat faces while the Fire Castle were abit more longer. I would sugesting adding the length to the nose area.

Great sculpt though! :)

Ok, so I'm testing out materials that i want to make the armor for this with. Going for this design by ben clark. http://www.benjaminclark.net/html/work/04.html

And i've been testing out flex-foamIT X from smooth-on. So far I think it's what i'm going to use, but I've been having a weird issue with it in testing.

It seems like it does what it's supposed to at the lowest point where it is poured. but as it expands up the mold, the cell structure gets much larger and more uneven.... I'm really not sure what is causing it (humidity, moisture in the mold, bad mixing, etc.)
So if anyone has had this happen with this product, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Because in the areas where i have a nice tiny uniform cell structure to the finished foam it is great, and exactly what i wanted.
