Warhammer 40k Vindicare Assassin

Option C for me as well. Always loved the Vindicare models. Can't wait to see how you get on with the rifle! :)

I've started cutting out parts for the rifle. Will post pics when I return home this weekend.

In the mean time I have thought about making bullets for everything, and in the novel Nemesis, by James Swallow, he describes the vindi as loading a .75 Cal bullet into his rifle..now that's the same caliber as standard bolter, which i was a little surprised at because I would not have imagined them being the same (with the rifle being larger than a boltgun round). I've designed one in illustrator that I will make a prototype of soon. Making one any larger than that will probably just look too ridiculous.

today i traveled far and wide to find a leather "factory" where i could purchase some leather that would be usable for making the chest harness and holster along with some miscellaneous straps..

I have some dark green dye for the leather as well as dark brown, still undecided on what color i want to go with..

and i made a holster pattern that should fit my pistol pretty well

more to come soon

a few pics of the bullet for the rifle..
im going to mold and cast this original so i can put them in my ammo belt and other various places seen on the miniature. its about 7 inches in length :wacko

its made from copper tubing and the backing to a "c" battery

Trying to work on the rifle a little bit so I don't get burnt out on one thing..

My idea for the scope would be to have red LEDs in it that will give more of a glow for the lens that you look into, however I'm not sure if I should put some in the front of the scope because I don't really think a glow from the scope would be particularly stealthy..but i tested the LED out and it looks really badass...

Is it better badass?...or practical?...hmmm >_<

Any input on that would be appreciated. here's a pic of the scope (the cut pvc) and a first pull of the lens

Finished making the holster for the pistol. Still needs to be dyed

I was really frustrated with walking around with my phone and wallet while in costume at previous cons so I decided this time I will have pouches specifically to hold them and still look the part!

Also finished the machete and added the dyed leg straps

have you gotten any further with this build?

I did, but I never posted the end result, which in my opinion, ended up being fairly sad.

This is the only pic I managed to take of myself at Dragoncon '13

Since then I have been thinking about ways I could improve it. Due to the rush of the whole costume, I don't think it came out terribly well. So time to start over.
My 3D printer is still on the way to me, hopefully soon. I'm going to be using a shapeoko 3 to cut out some parts for the weapons and more than likely 3D print the mask in its entirety if my printer ever gets here.

Here are some screenshots of my new models.

I don't plan to go to this years DC, but maybe if I get this done in time I will try to go.

That's some great modeling work; nice attention to detail! Can't wait to see how this prints.

I've broken my model down into parts that are more optimized for printing (also reworked some areas to look more realistic in terms of function over flare).

Here I am trying to simplify some details like the large tubes around the jawline area and make them more practical looking.

I started printing out the face plate first.

I want to embrace the sleek design of all the Officio Assassinorum assassins and not make this so much a helmet but more of a "mask" that is pretty form fitting, which means it would have to be put on in two parts (front and back). So I'm working out how the face plate detaches itself from the rest of the mask.
