WAR MACHINE Mark II (Formerly Canadian Patriot) Repaint Complete - VIDEO First Post

Re: IRON PATRIOT Costume TUTORIAL Part 4 -Cardboard Building (HELMET) Page 3

Don Juan thanks for the response regarding if an old shirt works in place of fiberglass, just came across your build where you first tested it!

Looking forward to more videos STEALTH!
I know you said this vlog series will be more in depth but could you also go into more detail regarding the safety side and equipment needed, for example respirators and types of masks needed when sanding/cutting the stray edges of the fiberglass/cutting the faceplate off etc. and a suitable environment for working/disposing of sharp resined parts...it seems other tutorials are lacking in this area~ And a noob like me was (and still am) looking for some information about this kinda thing~ thanks!

I'll try to cover as much as I can in it.

There was a storm here and knocked out the power. Can't really film or edit the next video. It'll have to wait until Monday afternoon.

I'll have part "5B" up by the end of the day.
The Helmet dried last night but it was too late to film fiberglassing the inside.

I'm looking forward to get this over with. I'm excited to cover the body filler, sanding and all that.
I really kind of brushed over it last time.
The helmet will really start to take shape then. Hope you guys are at the same point as me
Can't wait.

Hey stealth ive done the helmet just a quick question since im on a tight budget would polly filler work on the helmet ?
also your videos are great im building the mk42

One last thig since your building a Canadian patriot you should call him " the iron mountie"

Re: IRON PATRIOT Costume TUTORIAL Part 5a -Cardboard Building (HELMET) Page 3

well, you need to put the filler on something rigid.
If you're going to be saving money on materials, it might affect the build later and crack.
I'm being safe here and applying resin and fiberglass. That way I have a nice solid base to fill and sand over.

Just my personal preference. If it can work without the resin, then go for it.

Good thing about fiberglassing and strenghtening my helmet fell hard and it didnt even got a scratch, and its heavy, bondo only cant take a hit like that without cracking just my thought

Had some time, I was able to Upload
IRON PATRIOT Costume TUTORIAL Part 5(B) - Strengthening Pepakura Parts (HELMET)

Are you glad that part's over?
Now to get to the real fun... :/

At 4:25 or something, you said to use fibreglass resin to paint the fibreglass cloth. Can we use the fast hardener instead or is it compulsory?

Re: IRON PATRIOT Costume TUTORIAL Part 5B -Cardboard Building (HELMET) Page 3

Do you fiberglass over the eyes too? So it's all closed up and somehow trim it off later?

Also, with a paper cardstock build as opposed to corrugated cardboard, on some pep files there are 'lips' on the inside of the helmet i.e. they are in 2 parts; where the faceplate joins the main body of the helmet, how do you go about fiberglassing that? Do you just wrap it around the edge or ... :/

This is the one part of the process I'm most confused about!
Thanks again STEALTH, keep up the great work~ Lots of good tips in these, like the black resin and spray adhesive!

I mention in the video both resins a couple of times.

Whatever you have, use that.
