War Machine Foam Build FINAL- YOUTUBE VIDS UP

Re: War Machine Foam Build

@Jordan @ Zach,

I wouldn't of posted if I didn't want input and I thank you for your suggestions.

I did everything by template except the biceps. I took two runs at it (only parts I scrapped) and was not happy with the way they turned out. The template didn't lend itself to foam reguardless of the join/disjoin work I did. So, I free handed a rough idea and put it together keeping it smaller to help with movement and articulation. I don't think I will redue them as I only have 8 weeks left and I am out of town for 3 of those. But I like the idea of the extension/skin. If I make it big enough, I can nest it under the bell, and place it on top/above of the silver section to recess the silver part in the piece.

Shin mounting.

I think I have tried this about 4 ways, and I am the most happy with this.

Originally, the shins were attached to thighs pulling them up and fixing them from rotating. The loop on the bottom of the shin pushed the piece up off the boot for hinging between the boot and the shin while keeping the piece from rotating.

The second pic is an elastic loop with a buckle at the back the pulls my knee to the back of the piece to give proper fitment. The elastic sits at the base of my knee.

Since the shin and the boot aren't actually attached, the movement is great.

Another plus is that the thighs now don't have to fix the shins in place and are free. I will get some pics tonight, but I cut a slit down the inner thigh, and attached elastic so the piece grips my thighs. I will then run elastic up to an old ammo belt and this should be enough to secure them and the elastic should put a lot of flex into the whole thing.

Dress rehearsal- Back--

Need magnets to hold the back of ab belt closed.

Returning the grey compression suit for a black one today.

I was think of fill in more of the back but I may leave it so that is breathes somewhat.

Re: War Machine Foam Build

Big and bulky, like a warmachine should be. I may have to borrow your strapping technology. Very nice progress! I also like your liquor collection.

I built a mini gun. This basically sucked my weekend. It is a airzone punisher modded with aa and 9 volts to swap out for the heavy stock d cells. A remote tether has been put in so I can control the advance/pusher, flywheels, and rotating barrel while the gun is on my shoulder. A mount was made with foam and heavy duty ceramic magnets used to fix the gun to my shoulder. It has a 30 round belt and shoots 40-50 feet.

Damn you Shades! Gotta show me up. LOL Just Kidding. I love it! I wish I could build with the speed and cleanliness you do. You're suit is making my Iron man suit look like chump meat. Great work!

Re: War Machine Foam Build

@ Jordan-

Thanks a lot for the compliment man. Your work was inspirational to me. I will say, my work is no where near at clean as your IM suit. Black primer hides a multitude of sins that a red and gold scheme will not.

Re: War Machine Foam Build

HEY Shades,
I was gonna do the same thing! I even bought the airzone punisher already. I was thinking of how to mount the gun without tearing the suit, and was thinking of metal ribbing. I guess your way is faster and cheaper. could you show me some pictures on how you did it?

Re: War Machine Foam Build

@ Rock Eagle-

Its sitting right on top of the suit where the back and chest join with 7 pound pull ceramic magnets at each end. I tried 3 other types of mounts and the gun is just too heavy and you need the weight balanced over your body.

I am not sure this design will make the final cut. I may gut it and just keep the spinning barrel.

Full suit trial. Now moving on to tweeks and small changes. When I lift my arms, my chest lifts up. I put too much elastic in the bells and they don't rotate on the chest arm holes like they should. Have lots of small details to fix and I have a lot more electronics to add.

I will say, the suit is HOT. I am wearing a dry wicking compression suit underneath and I am still toasty. I am swapping out the neck gaiter (fleece) or something much lighter.

But, overall, if Halloween was tomorrow I could make it work. I am pretty excited it is all together finally.:lol
