WannaWanga ANH Graflex Configuration

So... Let's say you have a vintage Graflex bottom drilled for a (now inaccurate) one-rivet D-ring clamp. Did anyone try to remove the clamp and drill the two holes for the new, accurate clamp instead of replacing the whole bottom? Is it possible to drill two new holes on each side of the old centered hole without utterly destroying the bottom? Asking for a friend. ;)

Yep—replaced my single rivet D-rings with dual rivet D-rings with no problems.

It is as The Force wills it...;)

It's not the holes, it's the pressure you put on it when drilling. I'd highly recommend a drill press and pilot holes as opposed to just leaning on it with a hand drill.

Serial numbers! Thank you Roy for the magnificent number stamping! I had Roy work on a GS (Graflex Shop) Gen 2 sidebar and a vintage Folmer. I've installed the rivets and D-Ring on the Gen 2 GS and it's ready for the grips:

The Gen2 is a dry run for assembling my vintage Folmer, below, with GS Gen2 end cap (NOT drilling into another vintage until we have better photo reference):

GS is "on-screen" orientation the vintage is "toe picture" orientation. I'll post an update on the GS once I have grips in place.

Gorgeous. Still waiting for TGS to release their stamped sidebars. I’d send mine to Roy, but I’m concerned about the perils of international shipping. Maybe I’ll take him up on it.

Meanwhile, the stamping and orientation of that endcap is the last great mystery of this prop. There has to be SOMETHING out there to give us a clue.

What size roughly are the numbers/letters on the stamping?

I also want to ask the same question. I am going to customize the steel seal for my Graflex soon, so I want to know the specific size.

Well, it might sound silly but I got the stamping details from an RPF member and I won't share any technical details in order not to make it too easy to replicate them. That's what I promised. That's why I'm stamping an additional serial number on the side of the sidebar (!) as a way to prevent fraud.

Well, it seems that my custom stamp will not be very successful. So how to buy clips that are really close to the movie?

Does anyone run into difficulty removing E6000 with acetone when reconfiguring their grip or rivet layout? I’ve got some glue residue on the flash handle and it seems that acetone is not up to the task of removing all of it. Any other tips or tricks?

Man, I keep forgetting that you're doing these, Roy!

I have to send you some side bars, soon!!!

Lovely job, man!
