1. Life of Pi
2. Django Unchained
3. Wreck it Ralph
4. Tim and Erics Billion Dollar Movie
5. The Cabin in the Woods
6. 21 Jump Street
7. Dredd
8. Sinister
9. The Hunger Games
10.The Avengers

Ugh, the Tim and Eric movie was awful, unless you're 12 and find toilet humor funny. I miss their more subtle jokes that worked because of deliberate editing choices.

This year was great for big blockbusters but I didn't really get into any cinematic films. I had high hopes for The Master but heard it wasn't PTA's best. Oh well, I can just keep watching TWBB and PTA's other films over and over.

Avengers was my choice. In fact, I just watched it again last night....what a great looking movie on Blu-ray. :thumbsup

I do not watch many movies, but I saw Rise of the Guardians and liked it. I thought that was pretty good, and alas, I voted for it since it was the only movie out of the list that I had seen:lol

Thanks to everyone who took the time to participate in this poll. The current final tally is as follows.

1. The Avengers - 47 Votes

2. The Dark Knight Rises - 21 Votes

3. Skyfall - 19 Votes

4. Dredd - 15 Votes

5. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - 14 Votes

6. Prometheus - 11 Votes

7. The Amazing Spider-Man - 5 Votes

8. Argo - 5 Votes

9. Django Unchained - 5 Votes

10. Looper - 4 Votes

Remember that doesn't mean people didn't like Argo, it's just that it isn't their #1 movie of 2012. It made my top 5 list as posted on page 1.

Giving the multiple votes option might have avoided this issue, but then some would vote for 3 movies while others would vote for 10 movies. I wanted everyone's single vote to hold weight, which is why they had to narrow it down to their absolute favourite movie of 2012. Thus we would end up with a better list of everyone's #1 favourites.

Incredibly depressing to see this result even considering those frequenting this website are heavy Sci-Fi\Fantasy fans

I think it is because most probably haven't even seen Argo yet. It come out on blu ray today.

I still expect a movie like Avengers, or Dark Knight rises to be number one around here, but I bet Argo will get more appreciation once more see it.

The shame is that Argo is winning many awards, but Afleck isn't even nominated for Best Director Oscar. He won the Golden Globe for Best Director, and Argo got Best Picture.

Crap! Accidentally voted Skyfall instead of TDKR
But this list made me realize I missed a TON of good movies this year
:facepalm

(Sorry to depress you - but in my defense I haven't seen Argo yet!)
