Vibro axe again. (See post #129 - #132)

that sparked a snotty "do you homework" comment

that was not directed at you, more like everyone.

i have added you to my ignore list, please do the same with me,so you don't have to read my elitist snotty comments, have a nice life.

Well I guess I am misunderstanding. As I mentioned in several posts I have gone through all the threads. I have searched for everything about the Vibro Axe and was well aware of everything about the Yamaha part.

The only thing I even ever mentioned about the Yamaha part is that I was waiting to hear back from the member that offered some. I have no idea why that sparked a snotty "do you homework" comment. To me that implies you think I have not done so which obviously I have. I always thank people who did all the hard work and research as I have several times in this thread.

When someone asks for help I assume they have already used the search option and have not been able to find what they are looking for. Or maybe they were at the hospital all day working with burn victims and only have a few minutes to find what they are looking for and do not have hours and hours to search. So I am happy to help.

I did not ask for help and only stated I was waiting to here about something.

I felt Zorg's comment was very obnoxious and his response was certainly elitist.

If I am wrong I sincerely apologize

Anyway it does not matter. I scrapped the idea. I thought it would be fun to offer a run of these but I'm gonna skip it. At least for now.

This is not my place, but I feel that I need to say that you are taking an innocent comment WAY too seriously. I don't know zorg, but I do know he has been on the forefront of finding and collecting vibro axe details and reference. You're still pretty new here, so I'll just chalk it up to ignorance on how we speak and communicate to each other on these boards. "Do your homework," or, "Use the search," are two very commonly used phrases around here. It's never meant maliciously. It just means that all the info you seek has been well documented, and can be easily found. No one is going to be able to link you right to the info without searching themselves, and most people don't want to or have the time to do that work for you. It's truly meant as a polite and helpful bit of advice.

Zorg tried explaining that to you, and you STILL called him elitist after hiding behind a veil of apology. Maybe it's all miss-communication, but it came off as insincere.

Again, apologies for butting in to something that's not my business, but I don't like to see negativity happen in our community, especially when they're caused by misunderstanding someone's good intentions.

thanks:thumbsup

i have gone out of my way to help others on this subject as can be seen on my previous posts and will continue to do so in the future.

i hope to bring some good news to my fellow ax builders shortly.

First I said I was sorry. If it came across as insincere I will try again.
If I misunderstood a well intentioned suggestion I am truly sorry. I misunderstood and took the comment wrong. This happens a lot when communicating through typing and I really am sorry if that was the case.
This is the second time I have apologized. If that is not enough for some people, guess what you can go do. I think if someone says their sorry that should be enough.

Second, not that it matters as anyone should be able to speak regardless of how long they have been here, I am not new. I was here long before many, just get tired of explaining. Here for years, joined in early 2000s sometime. Got tired of seeing all I could not afford, left. Could not get old account to work. Started new one.

I did not understand the comment from the start as I said nothing about the subject of the Yamaha knob except I was waiting to hear back.

I do think when someone does ask for help just saying "try the search engine" is not terribly polite. Asking if they have searched or if they need help searching is one thing but just "try searching" I think is rude and I am allowed to think that. I always help as much as I can.

Again, Sorry if I misunderstood. Really did not take it the intended way.

Okay that's four times now so if it's not enough there is nothing I can do.

Please go back to Vibro Axe discussion and I will just keep quiet.

i had a look at the blu ray tonight and i noticed the 4 centre fins on the "chest rod" are not flat on one side, at least not on the hero axe.

also one end is slightly longer than the other

Hey Zorg!

The plans I drew were based off the best available images at the time and the pics I took at the MOM exhibit in Chicago. Back then we all thought there was a flat side.

Lonepigeon later pointed out that the fins are broken off. My memory is hazy, but he may have exhibited visual proof. I totally believe this to be the case, I just never updated my plans.

For the record, I still stand by my blade plans. I built a blade out of poplar based on those and it looks fantastic.

I myself. always loved your blade design, I too made one out of wood and it looks great. I just thought I remembered you posting earlier in this thread, saying something about things you know now, that you didn't know thin, or something like that. But it has always looked great to me. :)

BTW, I FINALLY shipped out those + bolt parts to those that wanted them. That was the last of the ones I have in stock, but I can make more if anyone needs them. :)

I'm just so glad to see this thread still alive, and finding new stuff. :)

First, I would like to say thanks to all who came before and made this prop as accurate as it can be. With that said I was kind of bored today and figured I would pull this prop off the back burner for a day. Used the blade plan image found in this thread and scaled it, wood, scroll saw, sand, etc. ,etc. ,and some warm .06 HIS later. What do you guys/gals think?

WOW! I have had this project on my to do list for to many years to count. I have a good start on both of my axes, and I have most of the stuff I need, but all this time, I was so hoping someone would do a run of parts, or conpleated axes. No we have one member thinking of doing finished ones, another hinting at a run of parts, and now het another thinking of doing parts. :) Good things do come to those who wait. :) I can't wait to see how each of your takes on this go. I am fallowing with interest. (though like wiht most props, if anyone gets my money, it will be the person with the best price, but hey I always worry more about price, then accuracy, most folks around here go for accuracy over price.)

I thought you guys would like to know about this. I was not aware that individual sprues could be ordered from models until Zorg mentioned it so I contacted Tamiya but sadly they said that the individual parts for the re-release have been discontinued.

He said he put my email in for notification if any show up available.

Just FYI

happy days, heres what i got through the door today. now i can get on with it!

Does anyone have an extra casting of the Yamaha part? I'd be perfectly happy with a casting rather than the real thing. ;)

And yes, I have read the thread and know they're out there, but not getting any responses to the PM's I've sent.

I'm going to bump this up as I'd also be interested in a cast of that part.

MonCal has them. They sometimes take a while to get back to you but send them a PM. I just got my Yamaha pieces from them. They are excellent and only a few dollars a piece.
