Many of you have been following the buildup of this in this thread but due to the amount of photos I figured it warranted a new one. I just finished her up this weekend. A couple of things will be tweaked eventually, inaccurate screws and such, but for now I call this project completed. (More info on the final parts of the build can be found on my site.) This is a monumental day for me here at the RPF- to be able to show you all my "holy grail" of props and the realization of a dream.

So here she is... Alice, the world's first Callahan Fullbore Autolock replica!

If you have any questions, ask away. Now you must excuse me... I've got a whole (half) season of Firefly to watch on Bluray. :)

Now, that's a prop! Kudos to your dedication to see this project through from concept to finished prop. I hate to think how much money went into this.
I'm sure you're going to get asked this question a lot, so I'll just do it now.
Any plans to reproduce this in resin? Again, great job!

Nice job, Joe!

Probably the king of the Firefly/Serenity prop replicas in the world today.
(And it will stay number one 'til somebody recreates Serenity's bridge....)

So, you're standing on the peak of Everest,
where do you go next?

Mike

Thanks all! You guys do know that you've helped keep me motivated during this whole time I hope? :thumbsup

Nice job, Joe!

where do you go next?

Somewhere that doesn't involve sawdust and aluminum filings all over the living room!!! Maybe I'll finally get to making Jayne's 1911 Serenity pistol or something. Something a tad smaller at any rate, unless I start sculpting that Batman TDK armor I've been planning... :angel

Oh, and to answer Randy's question: I'd like to try and reproduce it in resin, but I'm not sure how to go about it. I know my way around casting simpler designs, but there are a lot of variables involved with undercuts and such that would make creating a mould very hard... and financially risky should it not work out. I'm thinking of asking local plastics companies if they would be willing to do it. That way I don't have to pay up if they say they can do it and it doesn't work. Either way it would probably be really pricey.

So.....Where do you live again? :angel

That seriously is the best 'Verse prop EVER. :love

Whoa, that is one ridiculous, sharp toothed, uber-nasty, loud- barking, shoot beast. With wood grips to boot.
Really really really shiny.
