It looks like it's starting to get there! If anything It might be cool to do a decaying or Relic style DL-44 Build, where it was left on a battlefield for quite a few years and now it's starting to decay and chip away.

Are you going to use filler? I think filler plus a polishing wheel and an mini oscillating tool for the nooks and crannies would work, with paint on top.

the sanding pads are awful, i use double sided tape and my own sandpaper.

I like it. I don't think it looks that bad. At least the one. A little pitting is some good battle damage.
