Vader ROTJ FX Saber. Has It Been Done?

Not sure if this has been done. couldn't find anything in my search..

On to my big question.
I have a Luke ESB FX that some of the lights crapped out on me after many night battles in the yard, so, I took it apart and removed the blade and reassembled it..then thought after several chats about it with a buddy, that this could be done..but has it been done??
I've seen replacment red blades on eBay..easy enough.
But, has anyone made any parts as far as scaled-up shroud etc??
if not, I guess I'll just have to make 'em myself.

Any Info Would Be Sweet! :thumbsup

A Vader ROTJ FX has not been made. Maybe Hasbro will make one now that they have the FX license.

I know that MR never made one for sale.
I'm thinking more along the lines of a fan conversion, as opposed to whatever product for the masses Hasbro may or may not put out.
As much as I love Hasbro, I don't have much faith in their FX saber making skills..at least not untill I see one for myself :)

...or anywhere else I've ever read.

Since I'm not going through 11 pages of posts- What's going on here? Who's saying it was the same saber? Where's your evidence?

Yes, it is technically inaccurate to call it the "Vader ROTJ" saber. It is still going to be known like that because of how long it has been called such.

Regardless, I have been working on a "Vader ROTJ" for a customer. It is not a conversion of a MRFX saber, but a scratch-build. It will house a Luxeon III led, NiMH battery pack and house a MRFX soundboard.

Here's a few progress pictures:

It's not 100% accurate, nor did I intend it to be. I changed a few things to keep myself out of trouble, but when it's done, it will still be very nice. The customer is most pleased already.

I can't see any sense in perpetuating incorrect information.
People who still call it that appear that they don't know what they are talking about.

But that thread doesn't tell me anything other than "Here's some pictures of a display I took." It doesn't say anything about where they were taken or what they are supposed to be. The first post in the thread is just that. Here's a saber that looks like a an ESB saber, under glass, next to a RotJ poster.

If I put an ANH Vader tour suit next to an ESB poster and take a picture, does that mean that automatically means the ANH suit is now the ESB suit?

I'm sorry but I have no idea what I'm looking at from the thread you posted... And as the resident Vader expert, I don't see why you can't quickly paraphrase what this thread is.

Paraphrasing:
The hero ESB saber was also used in ROTJ as that film's hero saber.
The saber being talked about in this thread is really simply just a shared dueling saber used in all three OT films (not just by Vader). You can see that the metal blade was hacked off.
Someone at LFL got it wrong when it was incorrectly labeled it for the "Star Wars to Indiana Jones, best of the Lucasfilm Archives" book and many times since then.

If you want proof and specifics, then you'll have to actually read through the thread in the link posted above.

The answer is really in the thread linked within that thread.
Try this one:

The thread Gino posted was mainly about the original prop.
The thread I've posted is the discussion about it's use in ROTJ.

Ah, thank you. I'm feeling much less confused now. I actually remember the start of that thread.

I still don't see conclusive proof. If only the saber wasn't sitting so far back on the belt for RotJ. Publicity photos tell me nothing b/c there's no telling when they were taken.

:unsure oh well
carry on

Really? Thanks to Chris for this awesome photo.

Also, other publicity photos were taken that show this same saber were taken during filming on set.

Actually come to think of it, if you wanted a Vader ROTJ FX saber, all you'd have to do is take the ESB, and add the screws in the grips and voila. :thumbsup

Didn't realize the can O' worms that would be re-opened with this thread :lol

Any-Hoo, I do still want the version that I started out with in mind.
I guess because it has been etched into my fragile little mind by misprinted books and such :)

Heimidal and JudgeSabersmith: Thanks for the pics! they are just beautiful :thumbsup exactly what I want.

Gino and Chris..What can I say? without your research, we would be happy with whatever the saber companies handed us..so, Thanks, I think. :angry :confused :lol

I still have to read-up and watch all the scenes again now to learn more about this subject and look forward to any and all info about this/these saber(s) :love

nah...you didn't open a can of worms. Technically it isn't the Vader ROTJ...it's a shared stunt, but I knew what you meant anyway.

You really should read the whole Vader ROTJ -> ESB thread when you have some time. There are facinating pics and info in there.

Between that and the relatively recent pics of the other side of the ESB Vader showing the color of the wires there have been many great discoveries lately.
