Updating the SS Viper

A long time ago I purchased a SS Viper. From my understanding, the kit was supposed to be cast off of an original casting of the viper from the show. Perhaps an Icons. Anyways, I have never been happy with the sloppiness of the castings. A lot of the detail was mush and the lines were far from straight.

Later on down the road Mike Salzo decides to redo the Viper and did a fantastic job at correcting errors caused by mold shrinkage. Already having a lot of the donor parts I figured I'd give a shot at redoing my old one. Perhaps I'll regret that later.:lol That being said I didn't want to throw down a ton of money on 6 leopolds for the engine. Luckily Mike Salzo came to the rescue and molded some accurate parts saving me a ton of time. If you want some of the castings shoot him an email he made some extras. Anyways here are some pics of the castings and some of the donor parts.

Although its a bit nerve racking cutting into the model, I think the end result should look alot better than what I started with. Wish me luck.

Cool to see you getting started on this, hopefully it will be a fun project.

Just to clarify and give credit where credit is due, these engine afterburners were designed by Mike R (Greebliegremlin), Since real kit parts would be about 10 percent too big for all of the kits before my updated correctly sized kit, Mike designed these in the computer and had them grown, so they are resized representations of the kit part. They are designed to fit the monsters in motion, Custom Replicas, JM kits, or any kit that has lineage back to the Icons casting. Like i said Mike R did the heavy lifting on this, i am just casting them up.
thanks looking forward to how this comes out!
