No I have 6 order with them with no tax at all, I spoke with them yesterday and they said that now all online order will be charge Wisconsin tax (or where ever they are from) which did not make sense??? is a company allowed to charge lets say CA residents tax for another state?

Such things happen. I´m sure it shows while ordering before buying.




Doesn´t that depend from state to state? If yes, bad luck living in the wrong state, but not Anovos fault.

In short - i never will trust anything that comes from efx and it´s owners/employees without physical proof and/or declaration under oath from not related persons.

I never heard anything was efx fault, it always were the others.

And they had time enough, if they weren´t able to release in time, no need to blame the new licensee - decisions made by Disney may not be nice, but they have the last word.

Which is completely understandable at this point for people to second guess EFX amd that's perfectly fine. Can Disney have the last word when it comes to EFX? didn't EFX have the license before Disney took over or does Disney take over everything star wars...literally?

If a company buys another with all the rights, they also get all those rights. They have to hold up the old agreements as long as the old contract runs, but they set the borders between 2 licensees, and even Disney wouldn´t grant Anovos rights that were inhabited by EFX. If yes EFX could go to court and fight for their rights within the contract. If they don´t do it, that speaks for itself.


Regarding the US taxes - it´s confusing to me. I would assume they can and need to pick the taxes of the buyers state.
Here in Germany all states have the same taxes, with every price you see/pay those 19% VAT are already included.

could it be that efx sell as prop replicas, whereas Anovos sell costumes?

Anovos told me they don't have the licence to sell display stands with their helmets.

Sure. But when 2 licensees offer close to similar products, it´s up to the licence-owner to set where the line between them is.

it's like how lots of different toy companies seem to have the licence to make very similar action figures based on the same characters.

How did the efx vader helmet look in person? Was it pretty easy for you to tell it was an injection molded plastic helmet or did the paint job do a good job at "disguising" the fact it was plastic.

It looked very nice indeed and will definitely pick up 1 or 2 of the special edition version. I couldn't even see the seem lines until Gino showed them to me thus without being told or you REALLY looking for them you would not notice the seems like EFX did with their stormtrooper helmet that had that horrible seam line across the frown.

I just ordered the FO TIE helmet. I didn't get charged any tax. I live in Missouri. My shipping was $33.58. That was the cheaper of two shipping options.

Yup Lich is correct thus seems that Anovos found a loop whole and decided to make stand alone helmets with the agreement that they can not be the same nice quality as EFX (since EFX can then say that it is now TOO nice for a costume and consider prop) which in a way now hurts EFX. They are both business and its nothing new for a company to screw over another to get ahead its every man for themselves in the business world but that still does not make it right especially when these 2 businesses are supposed to be on the same team.

I don´t see it as a loophole - Disney sets the borders what is what and what might be included (a costume part doesn´t neccessary need a stand, and a prop without stand would be missing something)

A helmet is as much a costume part as it might be a displayed prop. The final decision is made by Disney. And it´s not one team. It´s more like one rich owner having 2 teams in the same league, both wanting to win the cup.

If Anovos can produce a 250$ helmet thats nice enough to have impact on the sales of a 500$ helmet ..... all kudos to them, people should be thankfull only. It only shows that the 500$ helmet might be massivly overpriced.
On the other hand, can you imagine what a ****storm would happen if their 250$ helmet would be not as nice as possible? Then just read what happened before the helmets were delivered, people were already complaining about bad quality before anyone had ever seen the endproduct.

hmmm that is really weird.

On my side im being charged almost $50 in taxes and then $30+ plus in shipping (which used to be $12 but I guess that changed).

Maybe its only certain states

I'm not exactly sure the details but I believe some states now require sales tax to be collected for online sales. Maybe they need to collect for certain states that have such laws.

ahhh that makes sense. Thus in a way a cheaper helmet sounds like a better option for those who cant afford it but hurts the other company at the same time but to Disney who cares as long as they get money from both companies. Isn't ANOVOS based in CA (I don't know since having never received an ordered product from them, I can't check the return address)? If that's the case, then you being in CA would mean you pay tax. Same if you bought Sideshow, eFX, whatever. It's the same with Amazon, where if they have a distribution center in your state, you'll pay tax with Amazon.

No they are in Wisconsin ( I think, but not CA) otherwise I would have been charged tax on my other 6 orders. But a additional $50 plus shipping really sucks. I am not complaining about the amount because yes its either you order or you dont I simply dont like that what used to be affordable such as $12 fedex 2-3 day shipping and no tax has now become $33 same shipping method and tax on a high value item in a very short amount of time. Now if they would have at least let us know about these changes in any way AHEAD of time that would be fine but in a way its like adding insult to injury to many of us that not only have experience many delays on our items but also no communication to our tickets.

What item were you charged $12 shipping for? Keep in mind the shipping cost is based on the weight and dimensions of the package. A fiberglass helmet will weigh more.

I was charged $19 shipping for a Shadowtrooper helmet kit and Classic TIE pilot helmet, but more for the fiberglass helmets.

Hhhmmmm. My next question is, how long ago was it that you placed your last order? Because you could be dealing with new CA tax laws which weren't in effect then, of which ANOVOS would have to follow now. If this is the case, then you need to direct your anger to your elected criminals in Sacramento.

I was charged $12 for the kylo, $22 for the FO stormtrooper, and now $33 for the FO tie pilot.

All made of fiberglass and all going to same destination.

What item were you charged $12 shipping for? Keep in mind the shipping cost is based on the weight and dimensions of the package. A fiberglass helmet will weigh more.

I think companies need to charge sales tax when they have a "presence" in a state. For example Amazon charges sales tax in States where they have distribution centers.

I believe Anovos has some kind of presence in CA and WI.
