Gone but not forgotten.
Would anyone here know if it's illegal to convert a blank firing gun to full auto?

I just had a hell of an idea... :D

Blank gun = Non-gun so it's not regulated by gun laws...
[/b]

That's what I'm hoping- do you know for sure?

Cool. What I'm wondering is...

"WHY has no one made Selene's full auto Berettas From "Underworld" yet??? :lol

Blank firing Berettas are there to be had all over the place and the only add-ons are those little rectangular flash hiders. I'm thinking it should be fairly simple for someone halfway familiar with pistols to convert one to full auto and stick one of these flash hiders on it. :D

I don't think it's that simple dudes. I learned recently that if you CREATE something that is a firearm, you're breaking federal law. I guy I know who used to live in Brazil told me about how he used to make a gun out of toothbrushes and rubber bands. TOTALLY illegal in the US.

So I'm thinking that turning a non firing gun into a firing gun is sort of along the same lines.

I recommend you do some more research into it before proceeding with this. One phone call to a local gunsmith will probably give you all of the information for sure. Information that you can trust.

Not to say that the RPF isn't a great place for information, but it may NOT be the best place for legal advice :)

This is not about that, because that would be illegal, this is simply the modification of an already existing totally legal blank firing non-gun to full auto still blank firing non-gun...

This is more like making a full auto cap gun, or full auto BB gun both legal (in most areas) because they are non-guns...

If it will still fire only blank, it should be legal.
It's like making a semi-auto softair into a full-auto softair... It will be STILL a softair...

The internals of the blank firing guns are nothing like the internals of a real gun. They can't be converted to fire full auto, I have tried with both the Bruni Glock, and the Kimar Beretta. They have this crazy internal hammer system, the barrels are mounted to the frame, it's NOTHING like a real gun.

The internals of the glock cracked and fell to bits. :angry

Don't you need some sort of gas system for full-auto?
[/b]

As long as the blank cycles the slide and advances the next round you wouldn't need any other power source. I haven't seen the blank gun internals but I was able to modify an airsoft Beretta to full auto.

Some states have bans on fake guns. I'm not exactly sure what the law is currently in CA and NY for instance, but lots of blank-firing gun places won't ship there.

wisconsin is one of those states

Cool, this is the kind of stuff I was wondering about. Also, I wonder if the guns themselves could handle the stress. It wouldn't be a lot of fun pulling half a pot metal slide out of my teeth. :p

Keep it coming.

The cost of firing full auto 8mm blanks would be prohibitive at best, those things are expensive.

The gun itself is set up differently than a real Beretta so modifying them to fire full auto would require a different mechanisim than the real deal...which in a way is good because if you got caught with components to convert a Real beretta to full auto, you will be dealt with harshly by the feds.

As for durabioity, you are correct in assuming the pot metal blank guns will wear out...and in terms of comparing them to real guns, they wear out quickly.

I've seen many of those 8mm's go belly up, after heavy use. The pot metal wears to the point of deforming and loosing tolerance on the major working parts causing ireparable damage.

I'll pick up one of those guns and see what it takes to convert it to full auto.

You da MAN Mats. :thumbsup

I remember bad slides were even a problem with the real Berettas when they first came out- the slides had extra grooves or something on the inside so they could fire while dirty and shed the crud inside, but it also weakend the whole slide- the military units who used/ practiced with them alot were having problems with their people getting punched in the face by their own slides after so many rounds, and they had to send out a ton of upgrade parts to replace them. :confused

Also, I hear you about the cost- aren't the 8mms about .80 cents each or more? (Visualize- "BRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPP..." Well there goes tomorrow's gas money... :( )

I have an MGC Beretta, and i would love to get a copy of the compensator used in Underworld. Anyone making these?

Matt, I found some pictorial examples of the innerds of the blank firing guns versus the innerds of the real deal.

Blank firing from RECK:

For a real gun, talk to a gunsmith. I've seen them on Ebay, even.

What were the guns used in the movie? Blanks or real ones, modified?
