For the Emporer!!! That looks awesome, but, I agree with the other poster. Not to late to go chaos!! ;)

There appear to be several types of Backpack for the Space Marines and your one looks closest to this style...

Your preportions look fine and the overall design is in keeping with the miniature pack I've shown, are you going to add the rounded jet directors?

thats the pack i used. i think.

it is TB-20 foam. its 1/4" thick.

yes I will putting the jet directors on the pack.

Looking cool. Agree, posing needs to be improved. You need to throw the shoulders back and chest forwards. The more heroic pose :)

Need some under armor sleeves as we can still see skin.

Chest piece looks amazing painted up. What changed in the midsection? The tubes were in the WIP, but the blue. Is that more foam? Personally, I thought it looked better I. The WIP with a t shirt as it accentuated the chest. The blue midsection now makes the abdomen thicker, thereby making chest piece less accentuated.

yeah. I agree. the foam was in the WIP, but it was still the original black color.

i couldnt find my UA shirt.

edit: after looking at some ref pics. if i paint the midsection, black, it will detract the eyes from all that blue and give a better illusion of a small er area I think.

Selective painting might help - that is, making the flanks darker than the front. If you look at a lot of the portraits of Elizabeth I you'll often find her clothes have a strong, bright downward taper from the chest with much darker/black clothes underneath. This helped to make her waist look a lot thinner.

Perhaps if you could blend down from UltraMarine Blue to black, starting from the front and finishing at the back of the lower body piece, you might be able to get the exaggerated effect of thin waist/wide chest found on the models?

These pics might help explain what I mean.

update.

i think i have some things figured out. not evident in this pic as i didint think about it until after the pics.

But.

If i make the belt and cod plate bigger in width away from the ab-plates, should make that area thinner.

im not a big guy either only have a 32-34" waist.

the back still looks big as i dont have any buckles installed there yet.

gotta work on the cod piece.. any suggestions? I was thinking covering it up with those handy loin cloths the UM's are famous of having.

so...any further suggestions? im all ears.

also note, i repainted some plates to make them more even looking as well as the ab section being back to black.

still have to weather it, once its all done.

Think the black abdomen looks better. Makes the chest piece look bigger.

Agree belt and cod piece could probably be bigger. It's not so much that your waist is big. It is more a matter of making everything look bigger and more heroic in proportions. And intgat light, you definitely need a bigger cod piece to accentuate the package :)
Loin cloth works too, but I prefer the armored look.

Love the build though.

Out of curiosity, how are the pieces built? Sculpted in foam? Or are pieces mainly glued together? Looks amazing

Everything looks good together. One suggestion for the belt is to cut some squares and segment the belt, that'll be easy and make it look bigger. Using the loin cloth would work well too but take a towel or cloth and drape it and see if it looks good. Just because it looks good on a figure or drawing doesn't mean it works in real life. Getting it to lie right is going to be an issue.

Where's the bolter or bolt pistol? :)
