I don’t have much to add, but I stumbled upon this gem today at a local antique store here in Australia. Really nice condition, No step, and at a steal of $20. It’s really trippy looking at a receipt that reads Vintage Kobold. I’ve never found much of note at any of the nearby antique places, but I feel like I lucked out today.

Wow, awesome find! I've actually found one of these as well in the past year (no-step Kobold with brass bulb assembly), but not for $20! Perfect for a Han ANH. The difference is subtle, but I believe Han's droid caller in ESB was a silver kobold (with a step) painted black (and heavily weathered).

Wow, this thread went real quiet. I’d be interested to know if anyone has been able to confirm either way - Kobold or Linhof?

Thank you for starting this thread so many years ago! I’m finally getting around to designing my own DC and am aiming for the ANH Solo variant. This thread has confirmed something’s for me along with helped me “move along” for those details that can’t be confirmed. This is very much still a work in progress but again cheers..

Wow, this is looking great... very impressive! At first glance my only critique from comparing to my real flashes is that the bottom knob/screw looks a bit thick. Let me know if you'd like me to put the calipers on any pieces for you.

Thank you MastahBlastah. Honestly that would be amazing. My original scaling started with a resin DC that is commonly available but I know not very accurate. I’ll DM u if that’s ok.
