Just a bit of further correction on P51's helmet comments: rear seam helmets were very much WWII-era in terms of manufacturing (production started in late '44), but few, if any, made it into the PTO or ETO before the end of the war due to the abundance of front seam steel and magnesium-rimmed helmets.

There are a few other differences between WWII/Korea and Vietnam-era or after, (mainly in liner materials and a slightly different shape) but ALL versions are considered to be an M1, so I wouldn't sweat it. Your end result is amazing.

Thanks alot for the comments on the suit! Ive pretty much got the suit where I want it.
As for the helmet I think I was just a little misinformed. I knew the liner was a later version. After P51's comment I did a little more research and came up with the same information you just provided! I tried to male this as period as possible. I was a little disappointed about the helmet but like you said, the final costume has turned out nice. Im just glad there are guys like you and P51 that posess a little more info than me!

Ok Huge update here!

I finally got the Captain Mask to demold and cast the first piece! It is beautiful!! Mallie could not have sculpted this better!!

This is currently raw as I wanted to post it before painting! The raised areas are belt loops for the leather belts and chin straps to go through, and it still need paint and goggles!

Anyway Here it is in all of its raw dirty glory

Im planning on putting some work into this today and tonight so Im hoping to have a complete mask tonight!

First off thanks for the great comments!!!

Ok now for another update!

I put some serious hours into this Mask today!
I painted it leather Style, Added all the buckles and leather and added the goggle lenses This is how it turned out!

I Love this mask. It fits my big ole head perfect, see for yourself

All right kids that all I have for tonight!! Oh ya one more thing. Some brown leather gloves and this costume will be complete!

We will be doing a photoshoot when it is so stick with me a little longer!

I actually have the exact same critique and its my mask lol. They looked clear in the package and once I got them out they were like an orangie polorized lense.

Since I already bought them and they fit perfect I went with them.

"Perfect" Thats what I like to hear, LOL!!

I am in search for a new set of lenses however, the more I look at the orange ones the more I dislike them! I think Im going to take the suggestion of some of the others and go with a clear or slightly tinted pair!! I just feel the Orange ones loose that "period" look!

We took one of these masks and painted it blue with the A and wings. It turned out pretty nice! I took the orange lenses out of my mask and put them in the blue one!
