UK Prop Party - confirmed 19th 20th November

Well from my POV, when "The girls from the Schuh warehouse" want to book a private Airsoft day... I'm damn sure not gonna say no :)

Finaly had a reply from my camera man friend. He's on location in the south and is trying to find someone to cover for him, unfortunately (for the moment anyway) its not looking great. This may change (I'm told) as its still a couple of weeks away. If he does manage to come we're both bringing our clans along for the day. The kids will love it and plenty opportunity for good footage. If he can't make it, it'll just be me and chewsy (found another RPFer just down the road from me:)) so I'm bringing him along. Looking forward to meeting everyone there.

I'm just waiting on 2 members to confirm their attendance after this the list and sign up is now closed.
The support shown has been great guys it's much appreciated, we have a wide and varied display which is superb.
Myself and Rob have been working really hard behind the scenes to make sure the display area looks good.
This is going to be a fab weekend guys and I'm really looking forward to the Saturday night social and sharing a few beers with you all.

Simon, OK, had a chat with Guy today, and buddy were a 100% go, ill have some stuff ready for sure now.

Space needed....hmm, we guessed it at a max of a 12 ft table space, that should hold what we have, sounds large i know, but these are big models, especially with Phils Falcon, and the A wing Guy plans to bring.

Comfirmed finished models ill have are the Probe droid, Probe droid pods, and ESB ATST.

Im on a commision job right now, but, im going to do my bestest to put together a placard of some kind, showing off some naked untouch donor kits we guys use, just to try give the public an idea of what it is we go through when building this stuff.

As it stands, we'll have maybe 10 good studio models to display between the three of us covering this area of the hobby.

Just do me a favor, let me know about the table space, and, how were lugging this crap in there, i take it we have access to one of the NEC hall's loading bay doors?

bests.......lee

Hey Guys

Ive had some posts here and PM's with some great question's so i am going to try and cover each area to the best of My Ability and knowledge, please understand that although im answering the question's it is all down to confirmation with the Organisor's of MEM and soon as i get the correct answer's and confirmation i will of course you let yu guys know too.

Can we sell at MEM - we are classed as a Display addition to the Event rather than Trader's, we are not paying for our Space the MEM organisor's are donating the space to us, so i don't actually know the answer to this question, however there is nothing stopping you handing out Flyer's or buisness card's to promote your work and drum up future after event sale's. Having said that i will ask the question if we can openly sell on the day and get the answer back to you.

How many Passes can i have - If you are displaying then it is one pass per person for the weekend, if you are only there for one day then the pass needs to be handed back to me at the end of the day, as it is non transferable. The pass is not free entry to the Event it is to allow you to display.

How safe will my Props be - I have requested from the MEM organisor's one of the main stage area's that has the stage and the walled section's, if you have been to MEM before this is the area where they sometimes hold the Talks, by requesting this area it ensure's that we can display our Props, Replicas and screen used items against a back wall on tables etc i will then request and would hope that we would have available to us the use of Barriers, the type that pull out and clip together, these then would clip together around the tables about 3 feet, basically making everything out of arm's reach. The public can then wonder around behind the barriers looking at your stuff leaving you comfortable enough to answer any question's and not worry about people picking things up and wondering around the back of your diplays. By adding Barriers and having the tables against walls they should in theory be safe.
There will be plenty of us there to take it in turns looking out for one another's items.
My Hope is the Organisor's of MEM will understand our Items are in most circumstances, One off's, rare, Screen Used, very personal and also very expensive Prop's and Replica's and will ensure these items are kept safe by giving us the appropriate space to work in.

How Does Memorabilia Work - I'm personally hoping that i will be allowed into the Hall on the Friday before the event starts as i want to get some of the set up done before the weekend kicks off proper, It will be a Very early start on Saturday Morning, please take into consideration every one there will be busy setting up their own stalls so it will be very busy. Normally at the rear entrance to the hall everyone unloads and takes their items to their designated space. All this needs to be done before the door opens and the public flood in, Christmas MEM can be notouriously busy, so getting to the event early and setting up is essential.
I will at some point arrange a meeting place close to the NEC, i can then give out passes and we can collectively head to the Hall and help each other unload and set up the displays. but i repeat IT WILL BE AN EARLY START :)

I think i have covered most things, this is the first time something on this scale has been done for the RPF in the UK so there are bound to be some changes and i dare say hic ups along the way, but what matters is we have a great time meeting each other.

The Saturday Night Social will be held at the Arden Hotel situated on the Coventry Road, Birmingham, it is literally a 10 minute drive from the NEC

I am due to talk to the Organisor's again next week so look out for further updates.

Simon, I'm a bit confused about the pass issue?

I already said earlier I would need a pass for my wife, who is driving, helping set up, mind the table etc. Is this going to be a problem?

Here's Dedication for you

One of our members Frosty who is displaying some of his Prop's for us is travelling down from Liverpool Via Train

Is there anyone that lives near by can perhaps work something out with him.

Public transport is no fun at the best of times let alone carring a box of Prop Replica's etc etc

Another question that i need to get answered

Our Display area, Tables etc - The Tables that are supplied by MEM are usually sold to Traders selling product's, The space is being donated to us by the organisor's, i have no idea how many we will be allocated if any.

I personally will be bringing a couple of Decorating Tables but i realise this is going to be a massive problem for those of you travelling fair distance's to the venue, i will confirm table allocation later this week after speaking with the Organisor's

If you can bring a table then please do so.

One thing that is a must and will not be supplied will be table cloth's you will need to bring these with you.

I will be going to a local cheap bedding place and getting as many bed sheets as i can possibly get Black, Red and white, i will hopefully have enough to hand out a few.

Simon, thanks for the PM back and addressing this here. Ill go bag a metal decorating table, think there in the 6ft region, so plent of room on that alone for my models.
As for cloths, hmm, i was going to bring one, but i was thinking keep them black and blue, to follow the RPF colorway maybe? Just spitballing lol.
