I have a graflite and a graflex and both had the cardboard tube, trents endcap was a tad small for the graflite but I just did exactly what ilm would have done.i wrapped some gaffer tape around it and it fit perfectly. Problem solved.
So, funny story: I’m new to the community, and I was just looking on eBay to see how crazy the prices on vintage Graflexes were. Just looking, mind you. That’s when I saw a model 2773, and it wasn’t outrageous. Recognizing it from another thread, I double checked. Yup, the Holiday Special. I decided to check back on payday.
Now, I promised myself I would keep the prop building in check by only doing small arms from ANH. (Replica everything is okay, real parts would be cool, 3D prints if all else fails.)
Then I made my second mistake. I started reading Neo-Rutty’s Build thread. But I made up my mind, I would stick to my plan. The flash would probably be sold by the time I went back anyway.
By the time payday rolled around I was sure I was going to let it go.
And now I’m the proud owner of a good condition Graflex 2773, quickly collecting parts for a lightsaber I said I wouldn’t build.
How did this happen? Where did I go wrong? Oh well, it’s all in good fun, right?
Neorutty’s thread is the one that got me hooked years ago.
If you hunt the bay daily you can find these 2773 fairly cheap. The graflex’s I scored for under 30 bucks a piece, and the graflite I scored for 19. Never had anyone else bid against me?
That’s what I like so much about this prop is Trent made it so we could easily complete it. Buy a flash, buy a trooper trent kit, grab some t track and done
Fun weekend build!
Of course by the time I got on board with this, I was a couple weeks too late and Trent’s kits are sold out. I either have or have on order everything I need, except the control box.
Your videos are going to be a great help along the way, too, so thank you very much!
Everyone on this forum has great ideas, I hope I can pay it forward.

I'm working on modeling my own control box, since I'm on a bit of a budget right now, so I'll be happy to share the file with you when it's done!
As I noted upthread, it’s a lamp knob I found in the eBay store that I linked to.
How goes it with the tongue research? Any conclusions? My red dome lights are on their way from China, and that, finishing the switch, and (possibly) revising the tongue are the last bits to finish up on my build.
