Tron: Uprising and Tron 3 in jeopardy

I just heard a podcast by Jim Hill that Tron: Uprising is not getting the viewer ship that was expected for Season 1. This could put in a position of not being renewed. That in turn jeopardizes any chance of Tron 3 from going into production. It is really sad since I actually like the animation and was looking forward to the final Tron chapter!

What to do? Start a signature campaign? What a pain!

Yeah, I saw the numbers on the Wikipedia pages and wondered if it was enough. On one side, I'd prefered Uprising to be a one-season hell of a story, instead having a "Lost" story with thin ideas extended on many seasons.
As for Legacy... As much as I love Tron, let's face it, it's not a good movie. Good visuals, yes, but again the story is.... basic to say the least, and there's a sense of poetry present in the first film ( and Tron 2.0 ) that is absent in Legacy.
So, it's not a surprise if the box-office did not followed as expected.

My two cents.

Anyway, having those jeopardized actually sucks, and I hope they'll move forward with more Tron.

I think if they'd had admitted Tron 2.0 as canon and mixed that with some other stuff Legacy might have been better. Tron sure gets love from Disney in video games, he has popped up in Kingdom Hearts a few times now including having the Legacy style grid in the game. It's like everything else they want big money from crap writing and to be fair a lot of newer cartoons aren't getting much love from viewers. Then again they don't take into account how many are watching entire seasons uploaded to the internet.
The animation of Uprising did nothing for me, it reminds me of the garbage animation on the new Transformers that makes the first season of Beast Wars look like it was top of the line.

Did he say the show was in jeopardy? I ask because saying, "The show isn't getting the viewership we expected" is different from saying, "The show is getting so low of numbers, we may have to cancel it." In fact, with that first bit you said, it sounded like he was expecting a high number of people, only to get a number slightly below what they were expecting.

Wes- I agree with you. In fact, I've mentioned before that I think that they next TRON film can use more of TRON 2.0 and rework it to fit into the film version of events. I've even stated many times how I can see Jet Bradley being the Han Solo to Sam Flynn's Luke Skywalker.

As much as I love Tron, let's face it, it's not a good movie.

Eh, can't disagree. I loved it back in the day, but I was 15, what did I know? Finally bought a copy on DVD a while back, and watched it the other day. It was difficult to sit through the whole thing, if I'm honest. It was a product of its time - nowadays it seems very 'Sunday afternoon TV Disney'.

...okay, we may not be talking about the same movie here.

One word...Merchandising. If the expected interest isn't there, the expected money won't be there either.

If Disney continues to show Uprising on the regular Disney channel instead of XD I can see it getting the viewership it needs. Also it needs to be more than 1-2 time slots per week. Some of the other Disney shows have daily time slots where you can see the same episode twice in a day.

As for Uprising, I love the animation because it is so stylistic and different. Also the writing and story is unparalleled.
I sincerely hope that Uprising continues.

I LOVE the Animation.. and the story.. and the series..
What I cannot stand is watching the Sub-Par quality and the 400 pop-ups while watching on DisneyXD.
the ONLY way I was able to watch it was on Disney's XD site.. but then then STOPPED having the episodes online.. and only had parts.. or clips or just promo bits.. etc. How am I supposed to watch the episodes? By Other Means.. and then all of a sudden, there is no viewership. Well.. that is not by lack of trying. They made it hard to watch, then they want to complain that no one watches it. idiots.

Oh.. and I Love Tron and Tron Legacy.. I just dig it. I dig the old Movie for what it is.. and I dig the new movie for what it is(and visuals).
Would be a shame if they think that it is not popular.

The viewership Tron: Uprising is going down which puts it in a position of not being renewed. If that is the case the Tron franchise is dead which means no Tron 3.

It all comes down to how much Disney can squeeze out of a franchise. Disneyland milked it for all it was worth at the Tron Party at California Adventure so there is interest. The movie was not that bad. I watched it again in Blu Ray and loved each sequence.

The whole idea of Clu making it back into the REAL world is fascinating but hopefully the will spend more time in The Grid too.

This show would've been huge on cartoon network. I don't have Disney xd. A lot of the people who would watch don't have or want disneyxd.

Yup, I'd have watched on Cartoon Network or anything else, but just dont' have Disney XD. They need to get out of the concept of running these shows only on their 'kids' channel and make them more widely available.

I get normal disney but not XD it's only the tv with digital cable where all i get is normal cable. Nick did this with the Iron Man cartoon and a few others too, they don't' realize or care that not everyone has digital cable.

Tron 3 is definitely coming. They made a profit with Tron Legacy, so it will get made at some point.

whether thats 3 years or 20 years is the question!

That's a shame, they really just need to leave it alone. Tron Legacy was a very pretty film, but I was quite disappointed with it. Also, they pretty much wrapped everything up at the end, there's really no need to go back.

i beg a differ, because trust me when i say this...
there is ALOT and i mean ALOT of intrest in Tron merchandise...
its just that some just havent been "creative enough" to bring out the RIGHT ideas!

While others like UD Replicas hit the NAIL right on the head...
...which im sure Bandit-Jedi would agree 100% with me on that fact!
With the cost of our Sam Flynn suits costing over the $1,200 mark!

both have aspects that can OPEN up to a whole new understanding in itself.

I agree for the most part, but Hollywood has become such a numbers game. This is why we have an over saturation of sequels and unoriginal work.
Bottom line is that if their calculators tell them other projects are more viable then that is what will get made.
P.S. I loved both Tron movies by the way and I hope they do make another.
