Use an X-acto knife and a straight edge for your cuts. Some craft foam is thing enough to use a paper cutter if you've got a straight line to do but it can be a pain

Sad to hear about your Rinzler armor man.....

maybe for added support you could possibly integrate some thin metal wire like floral wire in it, like between the different layers of craft foam in the parts that or not as structurally sound... like around the abs and such? that stuff bends pretty nicely because of how it isnt thick at all...

definatley going to use an exacto knife this time and the wire also sounds like a great idea! anyway, im planning on making this armor better this time anyway, and my dad said he could make it perfect with me. so ive done a few drawings for me and him this weekend, and he said he was gonna get started this weekend!

so my dad has told me to find some good referance pictures (because the tron evolution armor is WAY different than rinzler's armor or the one i was making.) and i have the entire tron betrayal book and i have the evolution game but here are some good pictures i found so i could show you guys the armor im making.

thanks for commenting! as you can see, im planning on makeing my suit with craft foam so i dont know where you could get neoprene! keep watching this thread because this is gonna be awesome!

Lookin' good! I'll be using craft foam for a disc wars program costume, as well.

I've made many different armor pieces from craft foam before, but I've used a different sealant..I'm curious about Plastidip...where can you buy it??

Looks like it is going to turn out pretty good rinzler! I am doing some sanding after I get off work today and then going to begin the sculpting part!

you can buy it from home depot! and ya that rinzler armor that was on here (that broke) was pretty much a test! now im starting on the real thing hehe....

I want to fly down to LA to stay with my aunt again, go to disney land, and film with freddiew. Do yiu think theyd me it the airport with tron armor on?

Not if there's Plasti-Dip on it!!!!! I am completely serious, for some reason whatever chemicals are in it set off chem/bio alarms and they will think it's a bomb. I got stuck going through a terrorist-level security search because I had gear that I coated with it, and I had to explain that it was just a rubberized paint job and not some kind of plastique or covertly hidden incendiary device.

But for everyone asking about Plasti-Dip in general, it's awesome. The spraypaint can version gives the best results for what you guys would be wanting to do (there is also a liquid version you can dip things directly in as well), although it will take a ridiculous amount of coats, and there's only something like 3 square feet worth of material in the can. For a whole suit I would suggest at the LEAST bare minimum 3 or 4 cans.

I originally started using it a couple of Halloween's ago with the intention of just insulating some cardboard armor parts that I wanted to waterproof in case it rained, but it turned out to be an incredibly useful product overall, not just for costumes but for other stuff too. It's also super toxic, so garage/outdoor spraying would be ideal if you use it for anything.
