Tron Legacy: Flynn Lives

All right, this may be old news, but Tron is in the movie....at least I'm pretty confident he is. As a matter of fact, I think Tron is in the most recent trailer, right under our collective noses!

Seriously, the program dual wielding the discs at the end of the trailer, right before the lightcycle sequence...that is TRON! How do I know? Freeze the trailer at 1:46ish (right before it fades to black) and look at the symbols on his chest (three squares across, one square underneath). The only program that had that sequence of symbols on his chest was Tron.

Take a look and tell me what you guys think. Am I crazy? This is pure speculation on my part, but then again....

and "Tron" is right here too @ 1:38-ish with CLU and gang

Maybe he's undercover. Like Flynn did in the first movie when he killed one of the guards?

But he did that by accident. He didn't know how to turn from blue to red, and red back to blue. The only other way that could possibly be explained why he wouldn't be that color is that it's not Tron, but possibly a search program (like how Clu was in the first film) written by Alan Bradley and the T is Alan's trademark (much like how programmers have easter eggs they program into their software as a signature).

Flynn did it, so it can be done again. The only legitimate argument would be that Flynn was a user and might be able to do something a regular program can't.

Well, if that is Tron, why isn't he blue?

It must be because he left one of his red socks in the wash with his blue costume and man, everything becomes orange after that! :lol

or

The blue costume is at the cleaners.

or

Orange is the new blue?

or

Peer presure...only lame programs wear blue.

or

It was the only color costume in his size.

or

Maybe it's Ted, Tron's younger and orange brother.

or

We don't know because we haven't seen the movie or read the script. :unsure

I always thought the pattern resembled the letter "T" and it was a cheesy way of showing it was Tron....remember, it was after all the 80s. Kind of like the "S" for Superman, or "A" for Archie or the "A" for Aptin America (I'm kidding about that). You know, Thor had a belt buckle with the letter "T", maybe it's not Tron next to Clu in the trailer. It must be Thor, God of Thunder. :lol

makes more sense to me that tron is 'un-mothballed' by flynn's son to help fight clu who has taken over the server.

hence the title: Tron Legacy...

if tron were mothballed at some point in time in the past... his code would definitely be considered Legacy Code. So i'm not thinking that Tron is 'rolling with the clu and his wild bunch of baddies... after all, having knowlege of Dos will allow you to circumvent all kinds of ... ahem.. well using legacy code can ... um... lets just say it's useful... esp on modern systems to gain access to um... well.. anyway

Actually, from what I recall, in the "Tron 2.0" game, the "Tron Legacy" program appears to be an new and improved version of the original Tron program, but is not the same program. There is no indication in the game the fate of Tron. However, the incompleted Tron Legacy program was stored on the old Encom server and was retrieved by Jet Bradley and compiled into Ma3a with a bad outcome due to an error within the programming itself.

Of course, not that the game's storyline matters, as the director of the film choses to ignore it despite the similarities in details and premise between the game and film.

Whoever that program is, it appears to be sporting something with a strong resemblence to the Tron iconography and it is likely not an accident, but I'm not sure. I know as much about the plot as everyone else, which isn't much. I think it would be interesting to turn our preconcieved notion of Tron on it's side. Lots of stuff can happen over the span of 2,000 cycles. Plus, why is it wearing a helmet that completely obscures his face? I get a Darth Vader vibe from it. "Sam.....I'm your Father!" :lol
