Trek Classic Medical Scanner Mark I

Is the sound clip on the Trek Classic the same tone used for the shows medical scanner?

Here is a sample of the canon single tone used that I only know of….(other than The Man Trap which is a different tone all together)



Now here are 3 different tones on the Trek Classic…..



The demonstrator says the last tone is the one normally heard.

So…….has there ever been an episode that had a medical scanner scanning with those 3 tones together?

If not….wouldn’t that make the Trek Classic medical scanner non-canon?

But hey…..some would like extra “bells and whistles”

I submit that the 3 tone sound effect…or at least 2 of the 3 tones…..is from another STOS on-screen prop, medical station, etc….

Btw….here’s Correlia’s finished buildup Science Scanner…..with switchable on/off sound.

Instead of the 6 color gel lens, motorized spinning wheel, like Roddenberry’s…..he uses a single 7 color led that includes the color purple. In my research the color blue was never used imo….I’m ok to be corrected.

There were actually 2 sounds for the Science hand scanner that I’m aware of …….one is the traditional medical scanner sound used for Dr M’Benga’s hand scanner (it’s there in the background to the music, you really have to listen closely) and the typical science tricorder scanning sound used for Dr. Daystrom’s hand scanner.

Yes but all these sounds were dubbed in. You have to pick which ones are the best o really for the scanner. There is not much room in there to add multiple sounds to it.
I really like that he did the ultimate computer sound to it. After all this is a science scanner. Not the medical scanner. I am pleased with the 2 I have. 1 plays the ultimate computer sound and 1 plays the medical sound as I wanted it because Of the Elaan of Troy medical sound coming from Spock's Scanner.
Again, we can't have all the sounds but I am very happy with the 2 Science and 2 medicals that I have.

Yeah it’s unfortunate 2 switchable sounds is unable to do within the tightness of space. Of course for the purposes of a science scanner….the ultimate computer sound clip is the best choice …..Nevertheless I’m on the list for 2 kits plus sound :)
 
Does anyone know if on the Trek Classic medical scanner…the operation in the sense of….turning on and turning off.

Is it a press the button and ‘hold it down’ pressed to run it ….and then release the button to turn it off……

or a press and release quickly to run it, then press and release quickly to turn it off?

Or something completely different?

It's just like the original prop, it's press and hold to run, release to stop.
 
Well…..if the medical scanner is ever to be produced again by somebody…..I’d like to hear it with only the two ‘canon’ sounds. Of course, the electronics would have to change to support it. Especially the push button engagement.

Perhaps press and hold down once the button switch for the common single tone (no extra tones)




or press twice and hold down the button switch for the second “Man Trap” tone.




Just thinking….. :)

So looky what I found in my stash!!! Looks like it needs a light & batteries & some wiring & I’ll have it finished! Think I need to paint the switch plates too. Anybody remember who made these or have finishing hints?

For prosperity sakes……can you layout all the parts including what’s in the ziplocks also including the different color gel lenses….and take a few better pics? You know….all angles pics as if you were going to sell it on eBay

And if it works and you want to part with it ;) I’d be interested…jus pm me …..or if you throw your hands up in the air trying to build it and give up …I’m still interested :)

Nah - Appreciate the interest & all but I'm gonna build this one up with correlianexports circuits. If I was you I'd grab one of his very nice kits while you can!

I already got on his list for the 2025 run earlier…. for a quantity of 2 complete kits with sound ;)

Your looking to put in the electronics from a correlianexports science scanner?

correlianexports‘s science scanner version is not the same one you have pictured in ‘your find’. What you appear to have is the Roddenberry version. I’m not sure correlianexports electronics is compatible.

I’m sure you PM’d him to make sure?

Maybe someone more knowledgeable can chime in…..
