Toy Story prop idea; also, need ideas for increasing collection.

was there ever an accurate buzz with the correct helmet that isnt in 2 parts?

Buzz's helmet was two parts in all of the movies. It just retracted completely in.

I think the new "Toy Story Collection" Buzz is an improvement, but the wings still look proportionally off to me.

The wings are in proportion to the movie with the new figure. It was one of the issues they really wanted to correct. Buzz's plexi dome does not physically fit in the figure as it is seen on the screen screen when it is folded down. They could not physically model that to match. The new Buzz though is as good as I think you will ever see to the screen piece. I do wish they could have kept the commercialized graphics off the collectors box he came in. I am hoping down they road they correct that with the second movie Buzz with the anti-gravity belt.

Closer in proportion to the movie than the old toy, but still no cigar:

I see what you mean there. Does not look bad with the arms down for the extension out, but still not as long as the movie figure. The striping is also not as accurate, needs to be at more of an angle. On the deluxe figure, I think they realized it too late. There is an extension of the new figure wing added on. The wings do separate so it would be interesting to see if they would ever consider doing them right as an add on in the future.

I am planning on calling Thinkway toys and hopefully spend some time on the phone with someone from their design department and pick thier brain on some issues.
So far, I have two of the new Woody dolls (one to keep in the box) and two buzz and the one set of aliens which I took out because I don't want to get in the habbit of buying doubles of every character.
At my locat Toys R Us, they have a new Jessie doll (not a definitive edition) but you can tell they will be using the molds from this version to make the definitive edition because it is a vast improvement over previously released Jessie dolls. Her body looks floppy like the new Woody, but her hair is plastic (I suspect the definitive version will have yarn hair). The expression on her face is fantastic - totally blows any previous version out of the water.
I haven't seen any definitive edition REX toys out yet - I think they are waiting to release him with the next wave, which I think will include Mr. Potato head.
It is a very exciting time to be collecting these toys - I am so glad they finally decided to do them right!

Rex has already been released,

I really wish they'd release figures that had the "neutral" real world toy faces from the films.

The faces from the previous runs and even these new ones just don't do it for me. Too "animated" and not "toy" enough ya know.

Nick, I agree completely.
It's the main factor keeping me from getting these. (Plus, is that really Tom Hanks' voice?)

I think for the post part every toy is now available. Granted, some are very difficult to obtain due to their vintage prices, but available. The only one they haven't made a passable version of is Hamm.
Now you can all be as nitpicky as you wantand that's fine, but if you're now waiting for a particular LOOK on their faces...??? :confused

So here are the main compenents available from the first movie. (again, very passable, if not exact versions)

1. Woody
2. Buzz
3. Bo Peep
4. Rex
5. RC
6. Mr. Mike
7. Mr. Potatohead
8. Toy soldiers
9. Baby monitor
10. Slink
11. Baby/spider
12. Barrel of monkeys
13. Etch a sketch
14. Magic eight ball
15. Claw Aliens
16. Mrs. Potatohead
17. Mr. Spell

Who'd I miss?

I have an old pull-string Woody. I know it's not accurate but is there an accurate stand out there so it will stay upright like in Toy Story 2? Thanks.

The 'Definitive Collection' from Thinkway toys are amazing.
I currently have all of them from series one. From what I have gathered, coming next is Potato Head, Jessie and Hamm. I think there will be more in the next wave, but if my information is correct we should at least see those three characters.
I could not be happier with the toys - a few nitpicks here and there - but with them being made from Pixar's digital files, they are spot on. Buz is outstanding. You can tell they put a lot of time and effort into making him.
I will post pics sometime soon when I have the chance to take nice ones...
