TOS Type II Phaser Replica (my final attempt (no, really))

Okay, all done, and the last part just arrived. I'll be able to put it all together Monday!

And now I am pissed! That last part I was waiting for was the metal thumbwheel from JPL. I just inspected it and it SUCKS!! I tried in vain to fix it, and I made it look much better, but it STILL sucks. The last one I got from him was perfect... what gives? Now I am forced to find an alternative (don't worry guys, I got this).

Send it back!!
And wait a week or more to get another just as bad? Anyway, it's my fault- I just looked at the pictures on his site- it's the mid grade thumbwheel. I had assumed it looked like the hero thumbwheel. No one makes the hero thumbwheel except as a replacement for the Diamond Select part. That means cutting it in half which I do not have the equipment for. I have it under control though....

It's got a LONG way to go.
Well you're off to a great start. Feel free to post your progress here (I'm fascinated!) Or I'll gladly follow your own thread if & when you start one on this project! Fiberglass shells? I never done that!

Send it back to at least get a refund.

Can't you just fill the area where it goes on the P1 and glue it on? I actually like the look of that thumb wheel, so if you don't use it (maybe I'll buy it from you)

While I'm waiting for various things to cure, I decided to even up the weight a bit (as the handle is full of epoxy putty & the nozzle is metal), so I cut open the bottom of the P1, hollowed it out a little and jammed as many pennies as I could into the opening (not much, like about 8 or 9 cents worth) & hot glued them in. It's not a lot, but now the P1 weighs like 5 times what it did. Just enough to balance it a little.
