Topknot's Gauntlet. Just Posted Many New Pics Of The Finished Piece To Finish Up This Thread. 06/02/

I know you asked alphatec but i use plastic model kit parts, watch parts, even legos

Looking great alpha
Thats the son of your first one :)

Thanks everyone. Hey Kithunter, If the lair is still around when I am done with this thing you will be the first to know. Priest I get the  little parts from battleship models. Because they are sized down so far they are fairly unrecognizable. I sometimes glue parts together and then sculpt on them a little bit to make them further unrecognizable.

Ok, the tail end is done now I just need to touch up some of the hard surfaces an I will be ready to mold.

Awesome Jeff. I love how it looks. Very nice work on the detail. Good job blending the sections together. it will look fabulous when done. I recognize that dark round thing on the back though...it's a ball. o_O

That tail end will be sanded smooth after casting. It's just easier to do that on some surfaces.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with the mold Jeff as I love watching you make stuff. It is also nice to see that your workbench looks basically just like mine... :D Looks like progress! When I get going on something cleaning my bench off is the last thing on my mind but I know exactly where everything is. Keep up the good work.

That stroke silicone doesnt look as runny as rebound, is it good ?
I might have to order a trial one of theese days

Hey Made, that Stroke works great. You have to move pretty fast or use small batches as you only have about 20 minutes to spead it.

Jeff, I love seeing how you go about making and molding your creations. It is an inspiration to me for sure. Keep up the good work and I am looking forward to a video of this in action!

Did some fiberglass work tonight. Only a little high from the fumes. Just kidding, had the garage door open.

First Coat of resin.

Here's a little sneak peek at he computer Gaunt. I decided to go ahead and glass this little sliding
panel that was molded last year, but that is another story.

pretty damn cool.  Question have you done a "mock up" of the pieces you have built to this point?...

i'm asking is only for proportion and scale sake.  just to make sure all the pieces flow well on the suit.

Hey Kithunter, that is a good question. I've done lots of drawings but I am really just hoping for the best. I wish I could just sculpt the whole thing at one time that would solve a lot.

I spent a few hours at the crack of dawn this morning workin on this.

This is the tear down. I almost forgot what it looked like under there.

The rear panel. I had to make this and cut it out to get the body on. I'll probably use magnets to hold it in place.

Everything fits like a glove. I almost wouldn't have to use any screws to keep it in place. Almost.

The arms for mounting worked out great. The screws will be fill with putty and painted to blend in with the
other do-dads.

Finally the blades retracted and extended. Just under 7 inches of movement. My goal was 7 so I guess I
fell short.
