The Tomb Raider Chronicles site had some new pix up.

Great to see some love for Lara's new look - I know a few people really dislike it. The costumes you guys have come up with are fantastic, and I feel I ought to thank you for all the great info that will no doubt be priceless when I come to improve mine for next summer

The clothing is pretty much just bought from cheap shops, but with the trousers I subjected them to coffee and paints to make them look all washed-out and brown in poor lighting like hers are. I went for shorter boots as they look quite short when she's lying down (plus it's quite hard to get comfy tall boots >_<)
I've seen similar holsters over here but none that go as far down the leg as hers, so I've made one, and will hopefully get piccies of it soon.
The necklace was the most fun bit to make - I did a milliput sculpt of it, then made a mould and used clear resin with colourant. It does look a bit edible up close, but in piccies I think it does the job.

Well, its been a while...

The new trailer has shots with the shotgun...

Looks like you can get a necklace if you buy a strategy guide... Or I can take that picture and make my own :cool

Also an art book coming out... in addition to a comic book series... must be really going all out on this one

Also looks like the Collectors Edition of the game has the figure they had at SDCC... which means I'll probably have to buy it...

Lizard Jedi - Wow, they really are going all out on this one! Fair enough, they're trying to market a whole new Lara Croft. I'm STILL working on getting my costume together (I swear this thing is snakebit). But apparently it's nigh impossible to find boots and appropriate-looking cargo pants in my size.

GrayFoxFlavio - Why thank you! That's a nice compliment, indeed.

Tomb Raider, Take 2! (or three...or four...)

I got my hair recut (this time armed with more photo reference than the first haircut I got). I acquired a new tank top (this time with the straps in the right place!) and I also managed to get the proper size of those boots I had formerly bought but ended up being a size and a half too small. Tomorrow I'm meeting with a friend to dye the top part of the tank top trim and work on putting together Lara's stick bow.

Tally ho!

Nice...

I feel ya on the pants/boots... that's my biggest problem as well. I've been working out a lot more lately, and the pants I got before are kinda not fitting so well now, lol.

Once I get my current round of updates done I really want to take new pictures... and get a better haircut. My usual haircut is similar to that to begin with but my old hair dresser is out of the business, so I need to find a new one that can do it right!

good for you, just getting the motivation to get out and do something is hard enough, to work out is just awesome.
as far as this Lara project goes i am in awe of the maticulisness <----(real word?) that you are all putting into this costume. its amazing to go through this thread to see that all this hard work is showing results, amazing results, in short the effort is paying off! showed one of your pics to my son and asked him who he thought this woman was, he immediately said LARA CROFT!!! shes real!?!? then the little guy asked if you were single. proud of my little guy LOL.
look forward to seeing this costume at 100%:thumbsup

Lizardjedi - Well, at least your pants aren't fitting for a good reason. :) I'm still trying to decide whether to go with khaki green or khaki brown cargo pants. The colour is different in almost every shot I look at due to lighting.

Metal Wood - If you think this is meticulous, you should check out the other threads on this forum! Holy moly, some of the depth others go into make my head spin. But we all love what we do. :)

That's a neat story about your son! That'd make any Lara Croft cosplayer proud. (Out of curiousity, which picture did you show him? Although the majority of the photos on here are of my costume, there are a couple of other gals that have posted - like LizardJedi - of theirs.)

the full body length one of you with the older boots and pants, hes 13 and knows his Laura Crofts. yeah i have seen insane detail hunting in this forum, but this was at first glance just cloths (no offense) but the attention to detail was and is paying off, tre cool

Thanks Drac! :)

Oh Metal Wood, you (and your son, respectively) totally just made my day! :$

Alas, my costume progress was delayed as my friend is sick, but another friend is helping me redo the necklace pendant. I had gone with a Maori koru, a south Pacific jade stone that symbolized life and birth in a circle. But now that more screencaptures have surfaced, Lara's pendant is most definitely a phoenix (as some guessed correctly in earlier posts).

Though there is also this version, which is also an official version (I believe with the strategy guide) but it looks a little different. Not sure which 'version', if it can be called that, to go with.

saw a new pic of the arrows the new game has, are you going to be making those? and if so i would love to help, i make my own arrows for target and hunting, doing a set of Laura Croft arrows sounds like a good way to spend a weekend.

So I met with a friend last night who altered my tank top to be a bit smaller and added in a side seam. I tried using a Prismacolor 60% grey marker to make the trim/straps darker on the top, but it didn't do much. I'm wondering if I need to get a darker marker. But I'm not sure if it'll even show up on camera. Any suggestions on how to make the trim darker?

Metal Wood - I definitely need some arrows. I hadn't thought on how to make them, though I'll be going for Lara's stick bow rather than the fully-realized one. If you do make arrows, I'd love to hear how you did it. (Though I'd be a complete novice at making anything like that or fletching.)

i have no idea of the style of arrows she uses with her stick bow, the pic i have is of her full sized bow. i can make display level arrows and arrows that look like a drunk cave man (or woman) put together. if i could get an image of the stick bow style arrows i could probably get pretty close and be able to explain the steps to making them fairly easy

You could try a dark blue sharpie... Prisma markers are water based (IIRC) and won't really last on fabric, methinks.

I actually bought a new shirt. My old one (American Apparel) fit fine except it was pretty short. I found a package at Costco with the same camis I use for the white shirt in a decent color. Should fit better.
