Tomb Raider Reborn

Looking fabulous, Alias! Love all those details! :eek

LaMelody - Now you made me really curious! Can't wait to see the the final result!

Aaaand.. thanks again, division 6 & Ember! Those awesome quiver screenshots came just in time!

I've been quite busy over the past few days aswell and I finally made some progress again..
I'd love to show you some more details but the battery of my camera just got empty and I could only
take a single shot. There is still a lot to make, but slowly getting there.

BTW.. can you guys recommend any good tattoo concealer? Something that doesn't rub off too easily,
so I could use it for the back of my shoulder aswell - or should I just wrap some gauze over and call it a day..?

Thanks I can't wait to share the film!

As for tattoo covering, I'm not sure how much you'd like to spend but the absolute best, and hollywood secret, is airbrush makeup. You'd neede an airbush pump. I use Dinair... they sale what they call pharmaceutical makeup and it gives the best coverage while still being light weight and blended-able.

That is also how I achieve the sun-kissed and dirty look. And if you really work at it, scars, bruises and other fun things!

You can find airbrush makeup kits on ebay for around $100-$150. I think mine was $130 but I use it for film A LOT! People are always telling me how flawless it looks... it's all I wear now. :)

This is the next best suggestion. Never used it but I have heard the name many, many times..

Whew! I finally got all the pictures back from my photoshoot. I've been posting them up day by day on my Facebook page completely with a storyline ---> https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.545986332120640.1073741832.431005676952040&type=3
Though here's some samples from the shoot. (I'll be posting more behind-the-scenes and other misc. shots on my FB page here in the next week.)

Things to be fixed/redone:

  1. Fix that @#$% quiver!
  2. Try to find another M1 Garand rifle sling that fits me. For whatever reason, the one I got initially was too short
  3. Need to redo arrows with proper turkey feathers
  4. Try to come up with a different way to secure pants legs lower on boots
  5. Darken straps of tank top
  6. From what I see of Kristen Anne and Division 6's research, I still have a couple more things I need to add to my belt.
  7. Add thigh bandage. Apparently I completely missed that for the shoot. >.<
  8. Adding outside patch to holster (or completely making a new one)
  9. Possibly adding a pick axe prop

If you guys can see anything else that needs tweaking or reworking please let me know! I don't think I'm going to do any more distressing or dyeing of my costume. I know alot of TR costumers are going for the dark grey, fully distressed costume, so in contrast, I think I'm going to keep mine towards the middle of the game.

Metal Wood - Now, now, don't get me in trouble with the missus! *wags finger*

LaMelody - Very nice job! I can't wait to see the final fan film. :) Oof, I hear you on the bra bit. I tried to do a strapless bra with my tank tops and it made for some very weird shapes. I've got to figure out what do about that.

Alias - Nicely done! I love your arrows! (Oh and welcome to the RPF. :) )

Mr. Cafe - Thanks! I had done a whole series of photos of my reactions in costume while playing the game. Alas, they all came out blurry. Ah well.

Nefeline - Ah! You are SO pretty! Everything's looking good so far. :)

Looking good.

The only thing I see right off the bat is the watch.
Lara is left handed so it needs to be on the other wrist.

Hmmm.. I don't know that she's left handed, given that in most of the concept art at least she's holding the pistol in her right hand. Also, her holster is on her right hip, which a lefty wouldn't do unless they were going to cross-draw.. and we don't see her do that. Besides, if she were cross drawing the butt of the gun would be facing forward and it's not.

Also, she holds the bow in her left hand, which in 90% of cases indicates a right handed shooter as we draw back with our "handedness" hand. This is not ALWAYS true... but is in most cases.

She's right handed.

That being said, Division6 is correct, TheLadyNerd... it should be on your right wrist. However, that doesn't dictate her handedness.

Though most people wear their watch on the opposite arm of their "handedness", this is not always the case. I wear my watch on my right arm and I'm right handed.

Just an FYI I'm left handed but shoot both gun and bow with my right.
My right arm is actually stronger than my left so it's the one I use to carry things more often.

This is such a beautiful shot! Looks straight out of a PS4 Tomb Raider game.

Incredible work on the costume TLN! :thumbsup

Well yes.. as I've said it isn't a hard and fast rule. But since we have nothing to go on to indicate Lara's handedness apart from how she holds and shoots weapons and how she wears her holster it's logical to assume that she's meant to be a right hander. After all, why would her creator make her left handed and then disguise that fact with misleading clues of how she holds her weapons and then not even mention it?

Sometimes the simplest answer is the right answer.

She could be like me. I'm right handed so when I have holsters I have them on so I can grab them with my right hand but when I shoot I'm left eye dominate so I have to use my left eye to hit a target. I can do many things with both hands but my shooting is left eye center so my gun goes to that side of my body when I shoot but my hand hand is still on the trigger.

Well, either way, if the artwork and the game shows Lara wearing the watch on her left, then I'll simply switch which arm I wear the watch on. Simple as that.

WOW TheLadyNerd! SUPER jealous of those locations and you look amazing!!

You girl's dedication to screen accurate astound me!

It switches in the game from one side to the other, I'm think it is because she hurts the other or it gets in the way.

Dermablend - Cover Tattoo

Thanks a lot! :) Airbrush makeup is something I'm actually really curious about! I haven't had a chance to try it yet,
but I might look into it someday. After all, it is kinda pricey though. For now, I think I'll have a closer look at the
dermablend stuff.. it might just work, especially if combined with "dirt and bruises".

TheLadyNerd - needless to say, you look AMAZING!
The photos are a joy to look at and the location is spot on. You really bring her to life!

About the bra troubles.. I kinda just sewed one into my shirt (also sewed the straps on top of each other for more support and
to make them look like just one).. it works pretty well, keeps everything in place and you can't really see it.
As for the stunts, maybe just use a padded one and take out the wires -
the padding itself might be strong enough to keep everything in shape. ;)

It's been a while since I have checked in here and I love what everyone is doing with this costume! You guys look amazing, and can't wait to see your film LaMelody!

I'm pretty sure she's a righty from the way she uses her weapons. As a lefty myself, I wear my watch on my right wrist, so when I first saw that I wondered if Lara could be left-handed. But I looked out for it and she's definitely right-handed with her weapons. I'd have been happy if she was a lefty because it'd make it easier for me to hold/fire the bow left-handed!

As I said the other day, while I am left handed aside from writing and drawing I mainly use my right hand.

Also the comments about the gear she uses, up until recently military gear catered to right handed and anything left handed usually had to be custom made.
I've only seen left handed holsters readily available in maybe the last 15 to 20 years.

In the US up until almost the 60's children where forced to be right handed (my mother got the ruler to the knuckles till she used her right hand) so all your gear will be right handed.

Some schools still retrain left handed kids to be right handed. Yeah I know from left eye dominance that a lot of military guns still aren't made for left handed people. I have to shoot big guns like M16s or M4s left handed and always get stuck with a right handed gun.p

I just read through this entire thread. Such an AWESOME build all of you Lara Crofts! LadyNerd, I'm very impressed with how yours turned out and your photos are GREAT! Your makeup is the icing on the cake and, as someone stated before, makes it look like you stepped right out of the game or off a movie set.

It's awesome to see so many people come together to help out on a particular build and everyone getting into it!

Great work everyone!!!

hey lady nerd,
i have a bunch of turkey feathers lying around, everything from big Tom plumes to the down under the wings... let me know if you want any, should be free minus basic letter postage which dosnt matter to me to help out on this epic creation of epicness...
