Tom Baker Era Tardis Plans

Anyone have or know of good, accurate plans? Full size.

I did the graphics for one for a member here a few years ago. But don't remember who.

Luckily I still have the graphics files, so I won't need those.

the closest i have come to finding were a small pixelated file of the version of the TARDIS used towards the later seasons.

Im almost ready to start a model TARDIS myself and would love actual hi res plans.

For what it's worth, I've asked nicely various times over the course of many years, and haven't been able to secure an accurate set of Season 18 plans, myself. So if you have better luck, let us know!

Yeah, it's tough to show up out of no where to a group like that and just ask for plans.

That's why I asked here.

I get the impression that it's one of those items that has many variations so something close is probably good enough for me.

Although fairly detailed I was hoping for something a little more clear than the above drawing. I had that one already. But thanks anyway.

The guy I did the graphics for was restoring an original so I wish I could find him. He could probably give me prints. I'm just too scatter brained to remember. Heck the other day I laid up some fiberglass with no catalyst in the resin.

I have been wanting to build one of those myself. I have a set of plans for the origenal police box that are really good. If you do not have these I can try to pull them out of the frame and shoot a Hi-Res pic or try to scan it. The baker box is slightly different (I think the photo above is from the 1983 technical manual and is the Baker box) but it might get the basic sizes and the rest may be easy to figure out from there. From what I have been able to tell you just leave out the middle roof riser and and they are close to the same.

now like its been said, this is a different version of the tardis, but it shouldnt be too hard to modify the plans to get the one you want.

Thats not the Tom Baker era TARDIS his one had a much flatter top to it if I remember correctly?

It depends, there were two during his era, the first was the flatter top as you describe, the latter seasons box had a bigger roof

i found this pic which kinda shows the evolution, but again i could only find it in a small version

I still say that 1980 box has the best proportions!

And boy does that 2005 box look like a fan-made p.o.s.

Which Baker box are we talking about? The first one that came to mind was the Logopolis Box from near the end of the Baker years (I think the 1980 box from that line up). I think there were at least three.

Agreed, the 1980s is the best, the new one is just urgh, and its damned enormous on the outside let alone the inside :lol

I gotta make one of these for my back yard someday- it would be a great tool shed!

Well, I'll give you guys a little heads up.

I have been commissioned to build one of these with outdoor survivability and portability as the top issues.

Therefore I am looking at doing a single wall pattern then molding that and making four fiberglass walls that bolt together on the corners. Capped by the roof.

With mold in hand I might make walls available.

I too like the 1980 version best. Reasonable size and better proportions.
