TMP IRON MAN - New Photos Feb 2011. Page 72.

Re: Iron Man Costume. TMP. New update 18 july 09, Page 105

Thanks man! Do you think the same thing could be replicated with a boot? I have been looking at army boots (flexible ones though) and doing a few sketches. Even toying with the idea of some sort of platform shoe as I am only 5' 10 but hoping to make some mods to the costume once I get it :)

It was really interesting to hear about the problems you had, and I was wondering if you came up with any permanent solutions since the troop?

This is so smart design. Many people dont belive me when i say the actors of holywood uses allot of similar shoes.

Re: Iron Man Costume. TMP. New update 18 july 09, Page 105

Weather with high dencity of hot moist will affect allot of things, even fabrics. This also counts for cold.

Vinyl becoms hard and can easily shatter in extreme cold. And for heat if will implode. Hotglue also does this to hot and cold weather. Other areas are adhesive like glue like velcro... Adding friction, heat and humidity may ressult the material loosing its strenght.

Well we dont use vinyl.

The plastic we use will not be affected by heat, might to seriouse - celius degres, but i dont belive anyone here whould go in spandex suit and glassfiber armor out in freezing snow.

The glassfiber also works fine in heat as well as cold. Nothing of these will have problems tackling trooping. All parts get worn based of use and how its beeing used. If you compare to stromtrooper armor some suits been made of hips and they change suit each half year ... :lol

Well this is nothing like that. This is pretty solid and i belive Dectaturvader and anyone else owning one will vouch for the quality. For bolts and parts to come lose may and will most likly happend at one point. But we also learn during the build from feedback.

The wearer dediced them self how to idealy wear the suit in the end. what harnes system for wear, how they want variouse parts to preform. It they want it fixed or in movement also will give different atributes of wear but also differenct strenght and weakneses. I worn my suit in 3 hours in a row and i could run.. I worn in many times and its just tighning bolts now and then and maybe tighten up some here and there....

:cool

Re: Iron Man Costume. TMP. New update 18 july 09, Page 105

Had an opportunity to participate in a local parade this weekend and have a few pics and comments to share.
First, the pics:

Second; the comments.
Well, it was 79 degrees with humidity pushing 65%-75%...yeah, a big storm pushed thru the night before and had things good and sticky...and this was only 10am in the morning.
I had two waredrobe malfunctions;

1) Both of my weapon-cover-thingies over my wrists came off. There is a bolt fastened to the red gauntlet, and the weapon covers seem to just be hot glued to the bolt head. One came off while suiting up and I didn't think much of it...just used my wonder glue and put it back on. The left hand however, 2 minutes prior to parade start (my helper had already left me at this point) and I felt something not right on my left hand. I looked down, and the cover had spun 180 degrees and was about ready to fall off. I pulled it off so I wouldn't loose it and tossed it in my chest armor (yeah that is a good pocket area to carry stuff LOL). I will redo both of these items to prevent this occuring again.

2) Probably due to the heat, I had a shoe come apart towards the end of the 1.2 mile walk. The fiberglass toe and heel shells are connected with a decorated strap. The toe end has a bolt going thru it for the hinge-action, whereas the heel portion is just glued.....ummm, yea....one side came undone and clanked around on me. I think the strongest method here might be to fiberglass the straps to the shell instead of glue.

NOW the biggest news of all....I ditched my 10-year-old spandex suit at the last minute. This guy at my office runs everyday. He wears compression fabric that is supposed to keep you cooler and draw the sweat away from your body. I have no real clue what the stuff is, or how it works, but I spent $15 on a black, longsleeve compression shirt and $20 on the black compression pants with elastic waistband. If anyone here knows what I'm talking about- holy crap this stuff is freaking amazing. I was in full suit for just about an hour and I barely sweat...we took the mask off and my face was dry, hair was dry...hell, even my armpits were dry. I had a little wetness in the tummy and thigh areas, but they are completely sealed by the suit and is expected.
The shirt came from Walmart. Tag on it says 2XL Starter Dri-Star. Fits me like a glove.
The pants came from MC Sports. tag says DC Performance 2XL Style # P6085
I just cannot believe how this stuff worked for me.

Lastly, I did remove all my eye electronics the day prior to the event. Until I can make them bright enough to see in direct sunlight, I'm not going to bother. I needed maximum visibility for the parade anyways...it was just the right thing to do.

Thanks for sharing your parade experience and how you adapted. Despite your malfunctions, glad that you saw it through. If I may aski, how do you keep your head cool? Do have fans in your helmet? Thanks.

Re: Iron Man Costume. TMP. NEW MAY PHOTOS NEW HELMET & LEGS PAGE 92.

The original movie worn armor is all urathene rubber. No hardparts to my knowlege.

Only about half the movie suit was rubber. Here's a quote from BATS from earlier in this long thread. He's handled at least 4 of the movie suits....

the abdomen, fingures not thumbs, neck, back and front of the knees, lower back, inner elbows, and a couple of other little areas are all f42 urethane rubber that were interestingly painted

He mentioned other parts being fiberglass.

I have an idea for it localy were we invite the army forces to bring tanks and military equipment. :) Whould be awsome.

Re: Iron Man Costume. TMP. New update 18 july 09, Page 105

LOL exactly.
Hell, Lucas has the 501st....why not a few Iron Men to help promote the new show.
Good luck with that. I could be wrong, but in some instances, Paramount does not seem the "friendliest" with fans. :rolleyes

Dont confuse Paramount with Marvel.
Marvel seem to be freindly with fans. And i done promotional task for Paramount with Ironman for their DVD/ blueRay launch.
