TK409 LEGO event as C-3PO

A few weeks ago, Lucasfilm contacted me asking me to appear in NYC at a LEGO event. This past weekend LEGO flew me and my wife up to NYC to appear at an exclusive event just for the media where they introduced a new C-3PO contest. In 10,000 boxes of LEGOs a lucky builder will find a gold-chromed LEGO C-3PO figure! They also made two 24kt gold chromed figures - one of which I got to hold. They put us up in the Westin on Times Square on the 43rd floor with a view - it was awesome! Since we were there a couple days my wife and I saw the sites along with her brother and his wife.

The event itself also had a couple local 501st members. We had a great time and got some great photos and video.
Lots of pics & video here:

Some new mods you'll see in these photos: The eye lenses are new and made by Moncal. These eyes have a silver backing and the pupils are larger and more accurate than my previous eyes. Also, I have real wires added to the midsection and (although you can't see) my voice speaker has been moved from the back plate to the front directly behind the belly disc. This greatly improved the clarity and audibility for fans talking to me face to face.

I did see the new $500 Millennium Falcon and met the designer. It took him 4 days to put it together (and he designed it!)

Great job as usual m8, ill bet when you first started making yourself the suit you never imagined how much fun you would really get to have in it.

All the latest pics are very good and amoung them some outstanding ones.

Once i do the last alteraations to my vader and finnish my cyb yoda puppet ill be moving back onto my 3po project and no doubt come see ya.

Awesome pics as usual. I showed some staff people at the office (just a few seconds ago) these pics and they were very impressed.

Wow...great gig and cool pix. Not only of the event but also of NYC. The wife and I are planning a trip there next Fall and you gave me some destination ideas. I especially look forward to the WTC site.

BTW, I love the behind the scenes pix....never knew that 3PO was actually taller than Vader. :p

:thumbsup Nice gig.

I have said it before and I'll say it again, best 3PO outisde of Lucasfilm. IMO

The arms are showing some wear and tear though. Are many other area's wearing down the finish? I know the original did as pictures show. Have you tried lining the inside of the shoulder bells with felt or something to reduce friction?

Haha, I was cold, to tell you the truth. NYC was 31 degrees with a wind chill making it feel like 10. Once we got out to Times Square I was frozen and everyone wanted a photo. The other 501st members kept people busy. We got my cold, golden butt back inside before it froze too badly.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Means a lot.

Nice Job. Awsome suit.

When it was cold did you use 3PO's line "My joints are almost frozen" ?
