Time Traveler caught on film in 1928?

Cool. I don't buy the camera shy theory one bit as some have mentioned, she wouldn't be any where near there if she was.

I know that exact look. It's what i looked like when my molars were killing me from impacted wisdom teeth and then when one of my molars went south. 2 fingers rubbing the molar and me btching and moaning. She even walks about right. Slow and disorientated.

Could be a Sonotone. This is a 1932 model

And here I only had a late 70's model that I had to wear in a harness on my chest. A white harness. It was a real chick magnet, lemme tell ya..

Looks like the guy got his wisdom tooth pulled or got punched in the face and he's holding some ice on his face.

There will always be people who when not offered an immediate explanation will always make up outlandish and irrational ones for what reason i'm not sure my heads not wired that way.
If something is unexplained to me it just stays simply as that unexplained i don't feel any need or urge to attach anything fantastic or mystical to it.

Alien UFO's, ghosts, spirits, psychic ability, fortune telling, mind reading, spiritual healing, big foot, Nessie, telekinesis, basically every so called paranormal phenomenon you can name none of them not a single one has ever been proven, yet millions of people around the world believe sincerely in this claptrap when there is not a shred of evidence for any of it.
Not only do they believe in things that there is no evidence to support it they deny the evidence that debunks it.

I watched a program recently about crop circles and they showed this footage which a self titled crop circle expert claimed was proof that not all crop circles are man made.
YouTube - Crop Circle Formation

Of course the problem here is that the guy who made the video readily admits it's a hoax and it's easily replicated with a camcorder and basic home PC and readily available software.
That doesn't phase the crop circle expert though because the guy who made the film is simply lying about it being a hoax.

Having spent the last 30 years behind a camera, I've never seen anyone who does not want to be photographed hold their hand up in such a way. Plus, if this is a movie, wouldn't that be an extra? The person definitely looks like they're holding something up to their ear nonetheless.
Clearly you've never been to Denmark.

And I've seen many newsreports with people hiding their faces like that.

you morans, its a walkman.

says the guy in Iowa.

Seriously though, if you read his/her lips it appears to say "dont stop, believing, hold onto that feeling...."

Damn you, Rob. I knew you were kidding, but that made me hunt down the source material, and I found a good quality clip here: YouTube - Charlie Chaplin's time traveler

It appears that the woman walks across without talking, until she pauses, turns, and says a short line.
My (serious) attempt at lipreading indicates she is saying something like "Now where?"

This would make sense, if she were an extra told to walk across the shoot, but not remembering where she was supposed to pause, or turn, or walk. Is this clip actually used in the movie, or is it on the extras DVD? She could just be asking for, and receiving, instruction from the director.

They are at the circus, the Big Show. Indications that it's sunny are people wearing hats and.. (get ready for this) an old lady covering her eyes from the sun. There's a pretty strong shadow being cast that, from the angle, indicates the position of the sun would be low enough to be in peoples' eyes, I'd guess about 2:30-3:30 in the afternoon.

Way too much analysis for such a short clip. Enough to completely ridicule this "time traveller" nonsense, though. :lol

Exactly what I stated back on post #32. I think it was the sun in her eyes.

The idea is awesome and it makes a great article, but actually SEEING it discounts anything remotely out of the ordinary.

Here was my take:

If you look right before it fades, her hands lowers a bit and changes its shape; to clearly not something holding any device.

Also, many things can account for how her hand is situated, including "hanging" on her ear with her first two fingers (I do this sometimes when I have ear pain or get an itch in that spot. She could also be hiding her face from the camera or shielding it from the sun as mentioned. Also, at the time, some women pinned their hats to their head. She also could be adjusting one such pin.

It is fun to speculate, although if there were people who could ACTUALLY time travel, I would have at least hoped they would be smart enough to talk Lucas out of Jar Jar Binks.

On a side note, the concept is creepy as heck and would love to see it explored further with other videos and pictures, even just for the fun of it.

It's a cool thought, but that's all it is. There are just too many reasonbale explanations for her actions from sunlight in her eyes to dementia which at her apparent age is very possible.

By the way, the footage is of the premier of CC's movie, not the movie itself so she isn't likely to be an extra. It was filmed out front as people went in to see the movie. More like a news clip of attendance at the premier.

Its an intriguing commentary on how we are conditioned by our current culture.

If we saw this same clip in 1983, what would we think?
