Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland Costumes

I know what Sith means. Its an aweful thing how much work goes into these hats and others try to pass off their paper tube creations as "accurite." it worked to an extent but not what I was going for. I made my hat in about a week working with an old lampshade I got at a thrift store...

For the material I just used a cheap soft green vinyl and used paper doilies as a stencil to spray paint on the hole patterns. I think it came out alright. :) good luck Kelikala. Nice to see you again from the old Joker forum!

Yeah, I've seen quite a few of those atrocities over there already, and it's almost downright hilarious to see them boast that they are the 'most screen accurate hats on the market'. I'm still gonna give the cardboard method a try and see what I can come up with because sadly, I wouldn't know WHERE to begin trying to make one out of leather or vinyl and I don't have the funds to drop a great deal of cash on a custom made one.

It's also nice to see you again too MrPinski!

see when you take something like this and make it your own, that i like
it makes each one unique
and more fun to look at and examin

Keli, the hat all together ran me about 40-50 dollars when it was all said and done. The vinyl was the most expensive part and that cost me about $13 because it was a yard and a half. I only needed one spool of gold thread, and the rest was a buck here and a buck there. The inside fabric I had sitting for a new years that I bought and never used from another project. I did get it at joann fabrics though. Im sure they still have something similar. if you are going to do the cardstock method, I would suggest using some kind of lycra and the covering it in lace to give it a cool look. The lycra will atleast form and take on a better shape and you can sew up the seam yourself. If I can help anymore just gimme a holler! I'll be around. I also have a vest in the work that I'll post up in a few days. I just need to finish the darn thing!
 
Ok so I hit the JACKPOT and found a crapton of Actual antique Tiny silk spools of thread, and have since created an almost entirely screen accurate bandolier for myself. (if only I could find that damned beveled chain!)

Anyway I'll post pics as soon as my camera decides to work again.

Does any one have a good pic of the hallow pin??? in the promotional poster i can´t see it that clearly, any pic from the live displays??? or of the other pins? Thanks
