Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland Costumes

I just wanted to share my own progress on my costume thus far. I didn't want to inundate the thread with a ton of photos, so I just thought I'd link to my blog if anyone is interested...

Also, I know this photo was shared awhile back, but it seemed to be a crop and not the full picture. I found the entire image, so I thought I'd share. My apologies if someone beat me to the punch...

This image seems to be a Gicleé canvas print selling in a limited run of 100 for around $425. Tempting...

I love you. :love

I have to go the "bloody red dentist" today, so I may see if I can find some hatter stuff. :love

Don't know if that gush of love was for me or not Jodo, but if so you got me blushing from ear to ear!

I had an appointment with the "bloody red dentist" today too, but I canceled... too bad though, could have gone shopping as well for Hatter supplies after I was done. Speaking of Hatter stuff... I'm going to work on my hat pins tonight :) I just need to find some of my sculpting tools!

Nah, it was for Chad.

:lol :p ;)

No, it was for you!!! :D

Oh! After I went to the bloody red dentist, I found some stuff. :D (Aside from two cavities. :lol )

Wood spools, total cost as of now, about $8. (I bought a bag to many. :lol) :

I didn't look for chain yet or anything. And I have like 8 left over incase I loose a few.

I also got some ribbon :

I still need like 2 more colors, but I'd like to find some fancy pants ones that have a cool design on them.

And then last of all, I found these pants at Goodwill. They're the strangest pair of pants I've ever seen, so I knew I had to have them. In person, you can't hardly see the blue stripes. :

Thoughts?

the spools are perfect
Chad used the same size (mine are a bit bigger, but more then half of mine are vintage so i desided to leave them, unless i find a buch of small vintage ones like Chad just did)

now i know your gonna have to thread them and they are not gonna fit on the bobbin filler guy on a sewing machiene
so heres what i did, i put a spool of thread on my machiene in the color i wanted and i got a hand held power drill and a bit just the right size to squeez into the spool withought making the hole to big (i had to resize them anyway casue of the chain i used to get them on the Bandolear) then with a tiny dab of fast drying super glue, glue the end of the thread to your wodden spool. then using one hand to guide the thread, let the drill do its thing
this cut out a ton of time trying to hand string them all
though if you want to incorperate some embrodery thread like i did youll want to do that by hand to make it all even.

as for the chain, send me a PM and i can link you a site where to get the stuff i used

Padawan, that's hillarious about the drill. :lol I think my mom's sewing machine will reverse spool the threads, so I may only have to sit back and watch. :D

Aelynn, thanks! :D

EDIT - I actualy had another pair of pants I found as well...But I actualy put them down when I found those pants. :lol

well if it does that will be perfect then
hope that works out
but dont forget to beat them up and make them loo old before you put thread on them

I've been thinking about that....I may experiment with the spares. (ewww....)

Also...

Consider this almost ready to go. D Just need to trim the tops and bottoms to size.

Yes! Quite nice Jodo! And the pin looks..........well........Oh so Screen Accurate even down to the aging!!:love:rolleyes:lol

The one thing I like about this pieces is that you can pick ANY ribbon you want for it!

Remember different lengths yes but hold the ribbon pin about mid ribcage and determine the lengths from about there.

Some people had mentioned to burn the ends of the ribbons so they don't fray but I think leaving them to fray is more SA.:rolleyes

Hey Chad! When will you be coming out to LA permanently? You will need to join us at Mickey's Trick Or Treat at Disneyland! Storm the Teacups says I..................Hatters unite!

SOUNDS AWESOME!! I am moving there permanently in August. Gots me a job at a warddrobe department somewhere I can't talk about yet....shhh....hehehe

Also if anyone is interested I will be making Bird patches in various colors to suit his various coats. I know that once the brown coat is gone everything dissapears, but I am a stictler for continuity. One of them is done specifically for the Blue coat, and since its his Batlle gear I made it a very dapper and menecing looking crow! (or raven, depending on how you look at it. . .)

Chad's got himself a dream job!!!! :love:thumbsup Very cool! :D

And thanks guys! Oddly enough...I sat out yesterday with the SDCC ribbon pic for refrence, and I couldn't hardly find any of those colors. Out of 4 stores, I only had the red and the gold. So I just started looking for ones I liked. :lol

Oddly enough, the blue and white ribbon is what came off the spool. It was like $2, and I assumed there was a ton of it there. But...Turns out I was absoutly 100% wrong. :lol

And soul, I've made use of it. :D

Chad, I can't wait to see the "angry" patch. :thumbsup
