Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland Costumes

Notice the blue lace is similar to that was displayed at SDCC but the white lace is the same as the promo shots with the brown rabbit!!!

in the 7th picture down it almost looks like theres a lapell on his vest

and what is that stripy thing hes wearing in the 11th

"THIS IS WONDERLAND!"

:lol :p ;)

I like his lapel pin on his coat in the one blue coat image...But is it just me, or does he not have this baldric in the grey coat image? I see a chain, but it looks like a "tied up chain", not the baldric. If he lacks it in that suit, I may very well do that one. :lol

I just wonder if a black blazer would bleach into the grey coat...Leave it out in the sun for a while, thin hit it with a squirt bottle of diluted bleach or something. Overall, I'm digging that one and the blue coat the most. :D

Those picture sure are Eye candy..
all the different color changes are driving me MAD!!!

i'm pretty much done except for the hat.
i wont be adding any fuzzie stuff to the jacket till i see it in person
at the EL CAPITAN.as it is i havnt closed the jacket either
because i opted for a burgandy lining, then a week later the poster comes out
showing its purple..UGH!!
also i jumped the gun and went with only 1 opening for the back center.
i see another jacket making session in my future...
ah well i try to think of it as practice...

as for the bowtie i know its not very close to SA but it is a vintage silk that
captures the spirit of the original. once again gotta get corrected white balanced HI REZ pix when i see it on display.
then i'll have a SA tie fabricated.

ACME, those shoes are incredible. Did you make them from scratch?

Yes they are but not by me.
i helped make the paper pattern on the "last".
and had friend of a friend make the shoe.
he's an older guy ..i told him if he ever wanted to pass on
the technique of shoemaking that i'd love to learn..
he said i can go over once every 2 weeks and he'll start showing me things..
I'm stoked on that.

Padawan...I'm thinking that stripey thing is a jail vest...I guess...nice of the RQ to attempt to be fashionable with her prisoners... XD

Jodo, the great coat definitely has the baldric still, if it's the spool one you're talking about? The picture with the prisoner chain is reversed, you can see the toggle for his spool chain right under the lapel on the left. :)

Acme, that wig is HUGE! And great! Nice work on both of those costumes...again, I beg you to tell me where you found that fabric for the RQ skirt? *_*

I went to Michaels today to find new yarn to line the coat with since mines burgandy as well, I think Chad has the same as you and I and not only did they not have any purple chenille yarn but they had NO chenille yarn!! So I got some eyelash yarn to make fuzzy ribbons to put in the hems of the collar and that but think I'm going to get stuck with the burgundy as well... :(

I guess, though, for a coat that changes colours, it can't ever REALLY be wrong. :D There are just too many variations of the 'main' outfit for there to be one correct way, I feel. BUT...the FIRST coat he's wearing, which is also the Tea Party coat...it definitely looks burgundy in most shots...maybe maroon....burgundyish purple. So. Burgundy will do!

CJS...I thought about using cicle lenses to give the big-eye effect but they don't have any in a colour even close enough to match the Hatters...I am just going to tell Travis to looks surprised all night. Besides, if anyones going to the movies in their costume I'm sure their eyes will be like that all day from the excitement and then the awe!! Muahahah!

Ugh. For having said no colour can REALLY be that wrong, I'm having a horrible time deciding what I actually want to do. -_-

In re: to all the new pics...I LOVE the third one down. He looks so ... awesome. And full of Hatter-tude ( ahaha I'm lame ) ! And I must say, I kind of enjoy his Blue Steel as well...which is fitting because he's wearing blue and probably wielding a sword.

Also...what the...is his hair LONG in this picture?

fbhatter.jpg

Cause if it is I am going to have a laughing fit in the theatre! And the shape of the hat looks so...straight and skinny in that shot...I always thought it looked to be much more curved, no? Maybe it just softened up over the years...it obviously needed some repair the Hatter took on himself in some creative ways.... >_>

Dang it. :lol :p ;)

Aelynn, at least you have a place to not find stuff at! :lol :p ;)

But your right, Travis will have to walk around with his eyes wide open, that's what I plan to do. :lol

EDIT - And considering my eyes are wee bit squinty at times, that might suck. :lol

HMMMMMMMMMM!? I wonder if I can wear a prescription contact over a non prescription :confused contact lens?:eek:lol I kid!

It sucks having to wear prescription contact lenses because now I can't wear the colored type!:wacko

I've worn prescription lenses over colored lenses when I could only get the colored kind plano. I'm not an eye expert by any means but my optometrist told me it was fine and they used the same method in the film 13 ghosts. I'd ask your optometrist and see what he says.

CJS, check out Colormax contact lenses! You can get them with prescription power and are pretty afforable ( around $40 ) and are very vibrant! They're actually the ones I wanted for Trav, cause they are perfect for the left eye...but it seems they're only available in the States and we don't have the time to go through him getting to the Dr. to have a prescription written to be able to wear them and fax it etc etc etc. Here's a shot of them on a person with dark eyes.

Hey Chad! It seems the coat just fades in and out of colours. After watching the new featurette for the umpteenth time, at this scene you can see it go from dull-brown to chocolate brown as he leans forward ( pretty sure its not just the lighting since its not a very sunny scene LOL ) and the bowtie also changes in saturation when it...perks up.
